Hello...
Just purchased a new, high-powered machine from a specialty mfg; ADK Pro Audio [in order to be able to move away from the use of hardware synth modules; & exclusively into sample libraries.] Had two questions before I install all the software from Komplete5 (which I also just received in the mail yesterday):
In loading these various VIs/Samplers...along w/ their proprietary sample libraries...I would like to load the libraries themselves on my audio (secondary) drive. Will I be prompted to choose a separate location for these libraries on program install? If not...I want to be able to move them afterwards & reconfigure their paths accordingly (& if anyone here has experience in this area it would be helpful...thanks).
2) Since my new box is going to be fast (Quad Core); & set up specifically for audio...are there any tweaks I should make to any of VIs/Samplers to take advantage of that environment? (or will they all just work more efficiently on their own?)

For most NI sample-based stuff this is given as an option - certainly the Kompakt romplers I've tried and Kontakt offer this.mark4man wrote:

Kontakt definitely has an 'enable multiprocessing' option in 'Engine Settings' which you could try enabling. P.S.I'd definitely advocate using a separate drive for audio/samples.
P.P.S. if you are in a quandary as to which drives/partitions to put each sample library on, you might think about using junction points to mount physical hard drives as 'virtual directories' within the same 'logical drive'.

Get to know it well though, as removing junction points can be tricky and you could potentially tie the system in knots.
Alternatively, if you have a true hardware RAID controller, you could just create a huge RAID 1 drive for all your audio/samples using all your non system hard drives. Beware software RAID though - there will be a significant performance hit when using it.

Well...you certainly are the man w/ the know how. Thanks very much...I feel a lot more confident about the install, now.
[Not sure I want to mess w/ virtual directories or partitions tho, at this point. I think I'll wait & see how efficiently I'm running in SONAR7 w/ Komptact3 opened up on several tracks (& all my libraries on one big ol', single volume audio drive) before I go that route.]
