Has anyone played any of Behringer's newish electronic piano line? Just curious, really. The pricing doesn't seem to try to undercut Yamaha and Roland. In fact, surprisingly, the Behringer products are priced about the same.

How do they sound? How about their feature set? Much control over the sound? Does Behringer seem to be seriously pushing into creating good instruments? (I really don't understand why they are charging as much as Yamaha and Roland for their pianos--unless the samples and control are astonishing, who's going to buy a Behringer piano\synth over a Yamaha or Roland, etc, if the prices are the same?

Will there ever be a Behringer Motif?

Why do they charge about the same? Well, you pretty much answered it yourself. Maybe they think that the quality is as good or better, and that the price is justified, and that they could actually compete. Also, they have a very strong presence in the market and their products are everywhere already, so there isn't even a question whether places will offer their musical instrument/s for sale or not.

Or maybe the other companies also use cheap parts and labour. You can only charge so little before it becomes stupid to even sell the product.

I'm sure they're fairly expensive to build. But when I saw that Behringer was creating digital pianos, I briefly had hopes that they would create a good instrument, and possibly eventually a synth, that would compete with Yamaha, etc, without as high a price.

Would be interesting to see what Behringer would do if they entered the synth market and brought in some something with a hard drive, all of the usual editing tools, and a decent interface and keyboard.
