Looks great ... thanks a lot :D

Hello all.
I've downloaded the IQ4 to load it in a newer DAW running Vista. I have it in the old Sonar XP rig but can't get it to show in this one. I was wondering if perhaps Vista is the problem?

Thank you

Hi Wayne.

Works fine on my Vista laptop. You got any other hosts you can try it in? My guess is its the host not the OS... I'm running Reaper at the moment.

Will there be any more development for this EQ?

No other hosts on this one, but Sonar in both cases BTW.
I notice there the .dll is the only exacutable there. Could I be missing a 'setup file? (Although now that I check that's what's on the older machine also.
Thanks
Wayne
ps You should be getting some $ for this.. :>)

Probably not I'm afraid. Its nearly 5 years old, and I seriously doubt the project file would load in the latest version of SE. I'm more likely to just start from scratch!

Saying that, I have been working on similar designs in Synthmaker. My recent DC09 entry EQUINOX represents a step towards an IQ4 style dynamic EQ, but with more powerful dynamics and more flexible sidechain filtering. I've prototyped most of it in Reaktor already, so I just need to find time to port it into SM...

No, no setup file required: its just the .dll file. I just spotted something on the SE page however, which might be relevant:
Vista and Windows 7 users
By default Windows 7 and Vista do not allow saving to your VST Plugins folder. This prevents SynthEdit VSTs from extracting embedded SEMs to disk. You can fix this by changing the folder's Permissions:
- Use Windows Explorer to browse to your VST Plugins folder.
- Right-click the folder - 'Properties'
- Choose 'Security' tab.
- Click 'EDIT' (You may need to click a UAC prompt).
- Select username "Users".
- Tick options Allow 'Write' and 'Modify'.
- To finish Select 'OK' to close the two dialog boxes
