Sorry guys, I have been busy with other things. I uploaded the new version (1.1) on my web site.
As stated above, the main changes are:
- webcam can be used to modify painted cells or acquire a whole new pattern
- cellular automaton to make the pattern evolve
- automatic generation of rhythmic patterns
- easy creation of wavesequences
- no more minimum size for the samples used by the slicer, and choice of the destination folder for the slices.
The doc has been updated as well and explains how all that is working (especially useful for the cellular automaton).
Nico.

Hi Nick,
Great stuff! Love the drum pattern generator and evolving cellular stuff.
Just wondering, would it be possible to turn the evolving thing 'on' and have it constantly changing while playing, so it makes an automatic change with every cycle through the pattern? That would be cool to watch and listen to, I think.
Might have to connect up my old webcam and give that a go now!
Cheers for the excellent work on this thing!

Thanks for the kind words, vom.
As I mention in the "future developments" section of the documentation, ideally I would like to add a window to specify automatic evolution rules for the pattern. This would be used in a "live" situation. It would include different things such as adding random notes, or modifying the color of the existing ones, switching lines on/off, and some algorithms such as the cellular automaton to make the pattern evolve each time it loops... Not sure when I will add that though, or even if I will ever get to it.
The next version (1.2) will focus on the kit window, where you will be able to specify a range and a scale for the instrument. The blue level will then be mapped to that scale. The goal here is to be able for example to draw a bass line in a few clicks. You would just have to select the pencil tool, add a bit of variation with the slider, and draw. You would immediately get a bass line playing in pentatonic or whatnot, with a bit of variation in the volume too etc...

great update 1.1.
great app for micromontage.
waiting for 1.2.
any chance to make sort of morph btw patterns ?
realtime slider for example (nondestructive).
or destructive.
also to add diffrent volume shapes for "granules" other than actual 2 in kit editor. also modes to play it other than actual 2. maybe backwards, ping pong and others.
more "evolving" modes could be also interesting.
for example loading frames from a movie at a given interval of time could help ppl with no webcam
also a "pond" (watter ripple) or evolving blobs
also some sort of "stamp paint brush" ( defining areas as stamps ).
+ some sort of resize of patterns. ( rescale / resize )
Thanks for this tool.

The random adds some creativity, I'd like to see what my webcam can do, so far I've only read the manual about the random-D key.

I added a tiny video of Blip on the web site. Nothing really interesting, it was more to test that Camtasia software.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Great ideas. The swing parameter should definitely find its place in a future version.
Again, I'm not too sure when I can release all that, but I will definitely update Blip. Most likely, there will be a 1.2 version with the scales as I mentionned, and then I will try to aim for a 2.0 with more new things.

Hey guys,
I just finished AudioPaint 2.0, but I need help with a dozen of somewhat basic icons. It would be great if somebody could help!
The details are in this thread:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=202374
I have been working on Blip 1.2 at the same time, and I should be able to release it right after AudioPaint.
Thanks!
Nico

AudioPaint 2.0 is now on the web site.
Yes, MIDI out is planned for Blip
. Not sure when I will get to do it though.
