So... Why aren't you using Reaper?

In hindsight that's a lie -- my least favourite thing is that it can't run for longer than 5 minutes without crashing and forcing a system restart

EDIT: Forgot to add. Adding an insert effect is also much easier now with the effect chain display above the mixer tracks.

I like the new mixer too. It makes Reaper a lot more usable. The new v2 look is a lot easier to deal with than the old ACID look too. That mixer looks really familiar BTW.

Reaper is growing on me. I knew about midi editing and some VST problems but I'm surprised by the number of people with stability issues. humm..

There are a lot of things I like about Reaper 2.0 but after much consideration I cant drag myself away from Cubase SE3 because I know it inside out and work fast with it..

Boy I would love a stable build there. It was mentioned live is time stretch lacking... I totally agree or have not figured out time stretch in live properly yet.

REAPER has to much "update". It is for a short time on business but tons of version numbers. For me REAPER is still beta status. The code is messed up all time. I won't pay one dollar for the crap.

Yes, I'm still using T3, but I also use Sonar quite a lot since I got it. Sonar does all the heavy lifting for me and Tracktion is my scratchpad app.

I use both and can't imagine what I'll ever need that they can't do. Tracktion lets me be a musician, and Sonar lets me be an engineer. Great stuff really, and both are as stable as anything has ever been for me, and also more stable than Reaper has been for me, since we're talking about it.

I agree with everything in your post except the timestretching quality is quite superb now and reaper is one of only 2 apps ont he market using elastique pro..

Yeah I get that too. Reaper always makes me feel like I'm driving a tank. I can get it done but it seems like a lot of work compared to just about anything else. Does Reaper have the worst midi editing ever? And is there any way to save it outside of cloning Cubase?

Which software were ever "out of beta" really? And how Reaper is the crap???

Reaper has its own GUI "style" and workflow just like any other unique program. It doesn't have to be liked by everyone but its value can not be disputed. I don't understand why assume it's not popular either. Cockos functions and it means it has customers. People are too binary sometimes assuming it must be all or nothing proposition all the time.

There is a few problems with REAPER support. Justin fix too long old bugs. He implement new features, which nobody needs and not implement features users really want. And it( REAPER) still produce a lot of clicks and glitches.
