I agree that adding effects is a bit easier now. However, I don't like the new mixer stuff at all really. Better than before, but just not what I would prefer.

Yes, I'm still using T3, but I also use Sonar quite a lot since I got it. Sonar does all the heavy lifting for me and Tracktion is my scratchpad app.

I use both and can't imagine what I'll ever need that they can't do. Tracktion lets me be a musician, and Sonar lets me be an engineer. Great stuff really, and both are as stable as anything has ever been for me, and also more stable than Reaper has been for me, since we're talking about it.

I can see that. Nice place to stop shopping around and make music imo. Good for you. Despite the things I don't like about Reaper every time I take the time to try and do music, I get something I want to keep. I can't figure out how I can think something is so uninspiring and be so productive.

REAPER has to much "update". It is for a short time on business but tons of version numbers. For me REAPER is still beta status. The code is messed up all time. I won't pay one dollar for the crap.

Reaper has its own GUI "style" and workflow just like any other unique program. It doesn't have to be liked by everyone but its value can not be disputed. I don't understand why assume it's not popular either. Cockos functions and it means it has customers. People are too binary sometimes assuming it must be all or nothing proposition all the time.

According to our little poll you have a point. 23% of the votes so far are from happy Reaper users. Considering it's fairly new that's not that bad.

Im happy whith Tracktion and I don't realy have any real time for any other. But, I still keep an eye on Reaper, very fast developement and seems to have a very good audio engine.

What I find a bit annoying is the non-commerical vs. commercial license thing.
Everyone goes on about how good value it is as if it were a $50 product, but its really $200 for the commercial license that is equivalent to its peers (Do any other DAWs have seperate non-commercial licenses?). Which makes it twice as expensive as a basic version of Tracktion, for example.

On the other hand, I wish more companies did this, so I'm really just annoyed that this strategy isn't done by everyone else

I use Reaper mostly as a sketchpad. Great to get multi tracked ideas down quickly, but I find I get a much smaller plugin count that I can get with Tracktion. So apart from familarity and contentment with Tracktion, it is cpu use that is an issue. Strange because a lot of people seem to say it is light in cpu use.

I'm glad that neither the fans nor the company as a whole have been selected as options yet. Justin certainly didn't deserve to lose business due to a nasty but vocal minority.

You know what ... I haven't played much with elastique, you're right, it is very nice! I guess this point is no longer valid since elastique was introduced.

is it when you go to the media explorer, i think the versions from like may through late fall were crashing my intel board, and now, i don't know if it's actually fixed because i've got a new amd system, and it hasn't crashed yet. (with anything) -

Reaper has been really stable for me...

But I agree with some - it's uninspiring... and I dont like the way the midi is set out.. I dont know why.. but I just dont. After I recently purchased Reason - I still use reaper for audio recording... but I feel reason dose the midi editing just that much better!

When I get a mac next year.. i'll prolly move to logic.

Even as Reaper improves, I find myself stumbling on the fact that nearly every little task is accomplished differently than in Cubase , which is what I am used to (and also markedly different from other apps I'm semi-familiar with). I suppose at some point I will give it a serious try and have to learn it. Adding good Audio Warp/Beat Detective-like functionality will be a possible tipping point for me.

I do remember not liking the way track folders are implemented at all. I do like the free routing - reminds me a bit of Pro Tools there. MIDI editing was much-improved last I checked.

I agree with everything in your post except the timestretching quality is quite superb now and reaper is one of only 2 apps ont he market using elastique pro..

Out of curiousity, which is the other one?
