An AKG Perception 200 and a Mackie VLZ Pro 1402

Would you recommend a SM57 to be compatible with a Mackie Vlz Pro for recording rap vocals? Its between the sm and a akg 200 perception mic...thats my options right now..

i've got one too. it's an amazing mic (for the money, of course). imparts a lot of warmth to the voice. heavy as a brick though.

About anything is compatible with the preamps on your Mackie mixer.
Being a large membrane condenser mic, the AKG 200 is a very different beast than the dynamic SM57. I'm glad you like it.
Would I recommend a SM57? For snare drums and guitar cabs: yes. For vocalists that like to have their hands on the mic and eat it: get a SM58 (same capsule as SM57 but with a built-in pop filter.)
Just for having the choice you could get a SM57 or SM58 anyway. Seen them on eBay for less than $50.

I was looking at this mic also.
Was comparing it against the Rode NT1-A.
Have you had any experience with this last one?
The price difference is not that much so that's why I ask.

I'm using it to record rap and rnb vocals...i don't know about the Rode NT, but I did ALOT of research before I made my decision...I couldn't find NOT ONE bad review or comment about the akg 200...I found A FEW reviews about the Rode where they didn't say it was necessarily a bad mic, but a couple people said they wouldn't recommend it for many situations...but many people recommend the Rode as well, so i don't think u can go wrong...
