Head over here.
The dev added a new compressor (Freeverb3VST_WindCompressor) to the catalog.

bump.
These plugs have evolved quite a bit from their initial releases and work and sound great.
The convolution reverb also runs very well with low CPU at zero-latency operation, so it's great for use with things like Wagner Sharp, etc.
Check 'em out.

Really ?
It became stable, low cpu and zero latency ? (even with big reverb tail IR ?)
Wow, last time i checked it was buggy as hell, i'll check again.

Yeah, I'll be interested in checking this out. I've had the previous version of Freeverb3 for a while, but it's not been too stable. Hopefully this is better because I'd love to have it working right.

I've been using the SSE optimized version with ReverbTools IR stuff in T2 and no problems. I've not tried really long reverbs though. I compared the CPU usage vs SIR and Convo-Boy (not lite) and fv3impulser uses the least CPU.sinkmusic wrote:Really ?

It's been a pleasant surprise.

... pfiou
but that SourceForge page will always make me quite perplex...
5 versions, no explanation for the user about which one to choose... are we all supposed to have passed web/computer dev highschool classes ?

I'd prefer if the impulser had "host gui" - it's interface is THAT ugly. Yuck.
NVerb sounds interesting to me, otoh. And I have no problems with "host gui" plugins.
What are your thoughts on WindCompressor? To me it has some of the trex "instant" vibe. Not the same sound, but "in use", like put it on the master and forget ... but setting LOfreq is a pain in the (.)
Edit: somebody get that BManic guy to test it.
p.s.: does anybody besides me find the limiter RMS, Lookahead, Release and Ceiling controls counterintuitive (at least) ?

Yes, I agree that the multiple versions are a bit confusing. The multiple versions are nice though in that they have been compiled with performance optimizations for various CPU's.sinkmusic wrote:... pfiou

AFAIK...
The 3DNOW version is for older AMD processors, K6, K7, etc.
The SSE is for older Intel, but also works well on newer Intel/AMD K8.
The SSE2 is for newer Intel, AMD K8, etc.
The x87 is not optimized for a particular architecture.
I've been using the SSE fast single-precision for real-time use, but I imagine the SSE2 slow double-precision is more accurate at the cost of CPU cycles.

Perhaps you could make a GUI like your great work with IIEQ?mauseoleum wrote:I'd prefer if the impulser had "host gui" - it's interface is THAT ugly. Yuck.
The dev was very responsive to my bug reports and would probably welcome your input.

Hi. I'm confused about all the download options?
I have a Pentium 4 3.2gHz with 2gb RAM running Cubase SX3.1 with Windows SP2.
Should I donwload freeverb3 or freeverb3_vst?
I I need to download freeverb3_vst, which version of this should I download?
Many Thanks

freeverb3 is a library source code for UNIX systems.dickiefunk wrote:Hi. I'm confused about all the download options?

freeverb3_vst is a binary distribution package of VST plugins.
You should use the fast-SSE version if you want to use them in realtime.
You can also use the accurate slow-SSE2 version, which is about 2 times slower than the SSE version.

mmmh
It causes Reaper to hang for nearly a minute, then it uses about 40%cpu with a lot of crackles...
I'll stick to native reverbs or SIr i guess.

Hmmm... that's a shame. Couldn't begin to guess why it behaves like that.sinkmusic wrote:mmmh

FWIW, I use it in 0 latency mode as send effect in eXT 1.4.1, T2, and FL7 as those hosts don't have PDC for sends. I just tried a "stresstest" in eXT and T2 and I can definitely load more fv3impulse (as inserts) than other convolvers, even at 0 latency. I used an RMX drumloop along with the 1800 seat auditorium, omni, center, front impulse (FYI, found at Noisevault).
