Well, this issue quite hard to fix in ToxicIII. It will be avoided in Toxic Bio.
This spike happens because there is alot of static, once pre-calculated data is being changed after you select new program. Here you can't do anything, you have alternative - to have this CPU spike once, or having 2-3 times bigger cpu usage (because parameters will be calculated on the fly then, and will eat more CPU).
Toxic Biohazard has better engine. Rewritten again from the start, now with many optimizations keeping the same audio quality. Here - the spike will be smaller.. . but it still will exist, there are about 300 parameters to process and 8 waves to convert into splines, for each of 128 frequency bands. BUT smaller I hope.
It will be compatible also. I hope to finish beta's on next week, though not sure when they come on public. Probably beginning of January.

Thanks Maxx. Despite trying various new synths that have come out over the last year or so, ToxicIII still amazes me with its diverse possibilities and ease of use. Thanks for your hard work.

I own Toxic III. Can the spikes be avoided if I turn the volume all the way down before changing patches, or will it happen anyway?
Will Toxic III owners need to pay to upgrade to next version of Toxic?

Sytrus properly band-limit its waveforms, and yes, recreates shapes on the fly too (and for some complex presets, does take time to load presets)Sytrus doesn't need to recalculate waves on the fly, resulting to they are aliased until you increase oversampling,
