Sorry guys I know this is an IK Multimedia question but I thought it might be easier to ask here..
I want to add a second harddrive to my PC...Will this change my hardware settings in terms of the Digital ID for soniksynth and sampletank? Will I need to get a new code or am I safe?
I wouldnt want to get a new code if that was the case but I just needed to check before I do anything to my system...thanks..

Shouldn't be a problem, I've done the exact same thing.

really?..I wonder how much you would have to change to make a difference?idragosani wrote:Shouldn't be a problem, I've done the exact same thing.
...a new motherboard would be a major one I suppose...
I never really gave this much thought because I havent had this kind of protection before unless you count the infamous SuperWave plugs..

In fact... I had one machine in my studio, but then I bought a new studio machine and moved my old machine to another place and removed all of my audio software, including all IK stuff, but later on I decided to put more stuff into machine #1, new hard drive, some other peripherals... but later on I decided I needed Philharmonik and ST back on machine #1 and used the same auth code from before... I was worried I'd use one up!lotus2035 wrote:really?..I wonder how much you would have to change to make a difference?idragosani wrote:Shouldn't be a problem, I've done the exact same thing.

I replaced my boot drive, and apparently the disk copy utility still left things "just enough different" that I had to re-auth my IK stuff (along with NI and one or two other non-music products). That was it.
I've added both external and internal drives to machines running IK software, and that hasn't required a reauth.

I wonder how difficult it is to get new codes once youve used up your first 3?...
Anyone have an experience with that?
edit: i meant to say, are IK reluctant to give them out after your inital limit or is it just a precaution/formality?

I've only had to request extras once before and there was no problem from IK. They were very accommodating. I guess as long as you aren't asking for new ones constantly...lotus2035 wrote:I wonder how difficult it is to get new codes once youve used up your first 3?...
