I'm fairly new to the virtual synth world, but have recently taken the plunge with SonikSynth and Miroslav (and loving it!). As I shop esoundz for additional libraries, I have become confused as to which formats will work with the SampleTank 2.5 engine. I understand that SonikSynth and Miroslav will work with the ST engine, but what about the "Refill" products - will all "Refills" work in ST2.5? Some of these 'Refills' list SampleTank compatability, but many do not.
Also, how many of those refills overlap the flagship product libraries? For example, are the "Choir Refill" or "Film Orchestra" set simply a subset of the Miroslav sound set? Is there some way to tell? I'm just trying to wrap my head around all the available library options out there.

True "Refills" only work with Reason. There may be products that use the same name (I don't know of any from SR) that are multi-format.
ST2's import capabilities are limited compared to other samplers, it's more of a rompler. Having said that, both EXSC (my choice) and Chicken Translator will convert into ST2 format. Be aware that your samples have to fit into RAM, as ST2 does not disk-stream.

I thought that ExSC converted to ST1 format (not that I know the precise differences between ST1 and ST2 formats). Edit: And ST2 will read them quite happily.dougsyo wrote: Having said that, both EXSC (my choice) and Chicken Translator will convert into ST2 format. Also, we should let IK MM know that we want/need disk-streaming. With options to configure/disable it - like the others do. IMO, it's unnecessarily holding back use of ST2 (and SS2 and Miroslav and SampleXXXX). I keep meaning to raise a Support Ticket - now I will.
