I can't make up my mind!

I think Truepianos has a "truer piano" feel funnily enough but I find the sound of Pianoteq more appealing and flexible in terms of sound design options.

I'm not a pianist so I don't think a hardcore recreation of a real piano is on the agenda for me. I was never interested in those huge sample libraries due to this and of course the hassles they carry.

However I don't have a lot of money to spend on this at the moment and there is a whoppin' TruePianos discount on at the moment which makes the price a fraction of that of Pianoteq.

I'm not sure if I should save my money and miss out on the discount, save up for Pianoteq and hope for a groupbuy that may never happen?

What do I do?!

I know only the demos. TruePianos "feel" to play piano. I realized to touch the keys another way than usual by playing vstis. Great piano plugin! Pianoteq has the option to create weird piano models. The piano sound itself is not so overwhelming for me. I'd suggest to buy both!(I would if I had that f*****g money!)

Err... Make a good deal on Truepianos now, continue saving, hope for a Pianoteq groupbuy, and if it comes buy that as well?

Truepianos. Wonderful sounds (and looks like more are coming in 2008) and very natural "feel" and tweakability of Velocity, Vel.Curve, etc. also quite cheap at the moment

Can I sell/transfer my TruePianos licence at a later date?

If so that'd probably swing it for me because I really don't think I'll have two Piano modeling plugs at the same time on my system.

It does seem that the consenus is that TruePiano's has that sound that pleases most people but are they piano players or producers?

I am not a great piano player myself but my girlfriend is and she is recording some tracks with truepianos right now. I (and she also) think that TP has a better feel than PTq, and has better option of adjusting the VST to your style o playing. Soundwise I prefer TP to PT but it can be a personal opinion/taste...

however, both have demos, I guess you have alreday tested them...

don't know about license transfer of TP. write them an email...

Better. You can download a 40 day unrestricted demo to try out yourself if you like it or not. License transfer: don't know.

I am playing with the demos, but just looking for opinions from people who have been using them for a while now..

I tried both. I bought Truepianos partly because of the discount, but also because of the same reason people have mentioned - it has a good feel to it in how it responds to the keyboard. I also have NI's Akoustik Piano, but as of right now, I prefer to use Truepianos.

I only know the demos. And I am not a piano player at all. Still, I found Truepianos so pleasant to play I could sit for ages just tinkering. Pianoteq didn't do that for me. I think the dynamic control, and sound made TP a winner for me. I still want to buy it but having a couple of sampletekks, and SS2 and some piano expansions, it is hard to justify. Especially as I said, I can't really play. But I would go TP, unless you want the ability to make a broader range of sounds.

Just something I learned today, Pianoteq is sold at www.sweetwater.com for $279.97. So it's not as expensive as I previously thought.
Of course, TruePianos is now sold for $140 thru December 31st. So, it looks like a great deal.

I would have to say Pianotech and I worked for a Bechstein Tonemeister (Moeller) for two years.

Pianoteq is the more sophisticated program. Truepianos sounds 'soundfonty' to me.

Pianoteq or... Truepianos?
