Which sampler reads AKAI discs best?

I've sold my AKAI S3000 sampler some time ago, but still have some sample CDs for it. There are a few sounds on them that I like very much, so I'm looking for a softsampler which can read these CDs properly. I tried VSampler and Kontakt 2, and they both read AKAI CDs with numerous errors - incorrect loop points, wrong envelope times, etc. So is there any VSTi sampler that can import AKAI discs with better correspondence to the original?

I used Extreme Sample Converter for old Akai stuff I had on zip discs.

Try Samplelord (sample player from the same devs who make ESC).

This is the worst translator of the bunch IMO.

Try CDExtract, Extreme Sample Converter and Awave Studio first.

You can try Awave Studio 10. This program has the ability to manually fine tune parameters after converting to a different format. I find this program useful when trying to compensate for the differing features in each sampler.

Kontakt of course. Either 2 or 3 will do. Once you load the AKAI patch you can then save it as an nki (Kontakt) format patch for easy access from the hard drive.

No need to use Extreme Sample Converter.

Yeah, right. Good luck.

I've tried so many times with Kontakt 2, but I've never succeeded converting any akai-files into Kontakt. Always some problem, "can't read the disc" or "missing samples", etc. Tried today again with Kontakt 3 - same problem. :x

sampletank 2 does it perfectly

I've heard this before. Does it read akai or does it translate it?

Post

it reads akai discs then translates it into its own format, creating "sampletank" patches

I've always wanted Spectra's Symphony of Voices, and I didn't really trust Kontakt's translation. So I'm interested in Sampletank's ability. The benift with SampleTank is the really nice, at least to me, effects.

Yes, I think the effects in Sampletank are excellent. Also, I own several Spectrasonics Akai libraries, and use them in Sampletank no problem.

i'm more and more convinced i'll get in some future ESC ...the things i read about Akai import bugs on Halion are to say the least scary....so far i didnt check enough to testify myself but i guess soon sth weird will appear loading some patches...
plus ESC can help me out eventually creating Wusik patches :D
