there is audio input, and they have the adrenalinn/blackbox tech in it i'm pretty sure, and guitar amping drums is pretty standard nowdays

This looks like it's gonna be a great drum machine. I've been watching the Dave Smith Instruments site for news and the finally have the RL2 pics up there. I must say this design blows in comparison to the original prototype photo. Does anyone else think the pad layout is lame? I can't believe they're not using a 4 x 4! I'm sure it's going to sound great (especially the analog model) but I'm so used to the MPC layout it might cause me not to buy. I was so looking forward to this product. Really poor design choice.

hah- roger linn was actually one of the inventors of the mpc-60

I well know this, i was taking the piss(as it's an analog drum machine with sequencer, when the MPC was a sampler)

The MPC is a sequencer first, a lot of people who don't or haven't used one miss that distinction. Sequencing is its primary strength (dead quick and easy sampling is a close second, though, and the combination of the two is what has made the MPC series the legend it is). Whereas the Linndrum II looks like its gonna rest its hat on sound quality, which is not a strong suit of the MPCs. Looks to be plenty of room for both on my desk regardless of feature overlap...

Also according to the DSI site, both models of the Linndrum II will be able to sample. And it looks like Flash will be the primary RAM, expandable by some sort of flash memory (hopefully CF, I've got several laying around)! Which, in theory would allow it to operate witout loading times (or for that matter, without loading itself

) which is the one thing I liked about the POS Roland SP-606...

i just prefer the 16 steps in a row(not square or 2 lines) of the TR family, guess you can't change old habits
