I'm going to make a sample library for shortcircuit (sampled from hardware synths) with pads, synth basses, electronic drum kits, weird noises, etc....It would not be a "sample-heavy" library (by that I mean, it won't focus on the huge number of samples being used in a single program) but rather I'll focus on programming SC itself using the limited number of samples. I want to see if there would be considerable interest in this, before I start working away.

Notice that shortcircuit is free, so anyone can make use of the library.

It's taken time for the press release to be released by KVR, but Chicken Systems Translator now supports converting into and out of ShortCircuit.

So this can make creating libraries much easier, and since ShortCircuit is free now, but a fantastic option for using a high quality free sampler.

I would be interested in some. I think free would align itself with a free sampler, and there should be plenty of free libraries. A free sampler isn't so free if the libraries cost money.

But on the other hand, libraries that cost a little bit encourage further development is a good thing, it encourages a higher quality.

So there should be both, no need to have either/or.

I certainly agree that such a generous offer like SC would generate an equally priced (i.e. free) library for it. However, the reason that I put the price in is because if there's considerable interest for it, I'm going to spend a lot of time programming SC, and the money would drive me to do better and not skimp on anything. Ofcourse I'll be posting some free patches too, so you can get a taste of the actual library. You guys won't believe how a simple organ sound using 4 or 5 samples can make a killer bass sound in SC. So I definately want to exploit SC's power and make use of it as much as possible.

And don't worry, I'll probably price it such that it is 10 bucks or something like that. All I'm doing right now is to see how much interest there is, for a library made using SC and makes use of its features exclusively, and decide whether to make a library for it or not.

I'm in for it. $10 for a decent sample library is a trifle; for those claiming "a free sampler should be supplied with free libraries" my advice is try and make a sample set by yourself. It takes more than just time, believe me.

I agree, yes.

However, I do think there should be a "Bread and Butter" Pak of sorts, kind of like a Core Library, that should be free; that would help the popularity of ShortCircuit so it has some instant gratification.

Then, the sold libraries would be more popular because people would be more onboard with SC.
