X-Gear is already a month behind schedule, and Amplitube Metal has just 4 days left to meet the deadline. I thought IK Multimedia was going to start being responsible and no longer publish wildly inaccurate release dates...

I asked Squids about this and X-Gear is tied to the StompIO release. They are shipping to dealers now I believe. So I think this was a case of hardware production holding up a software release. Not that it makes it any better....

OK, but then what's the deal on Amplitube Metal?
Does this mean it will be released before X-Gear, like in the next couple days, or are we going to be waiting until February for that one?

I don't know about Metal...Squids says he doesn't even have a beta. Hard to say for sure but they did say you would have your choice of AT2 OR Metal with the purchase of the StompIO. I'm guessing it shows up in your user area after you register StompIO. All purely speculation on my part....I just want the X-Gear :hihi:

Don't you mean you get your choice of the Jimi Hendrix or Metal Editions?
As far as I remember you were to get both Amplitube2 and Jimi Hendrix Edition with StompIO, but that was before Metal was announced. I figure it would make more sense if they were therefore giving the option to substitute Hendrix with Metal, since they're both smaller specialty sets at $250 each, instead of the full $400 pricetag of Amplitube2.

That's weird. Don't you recall Squids saying StompIO would include both AT2 and ATJHE in the other thread when ATJHE was announced?

Only getting one makes StompIO an even bigger rip-off than it already seemed, and even moreso if you're dumb enough to choose the option to get Metal for the same price as Amplitube2...

How do they plan to offset the 10 amp and $150 price difference between Amplitube2 and Metal, or do they?

I don't remember it that way but my memory ain't what it used ta be. ;-)

I think the offer of either was designed specifically for those who already had AT2. If you don't you opt for AT2 and then buy Metal for a cross grade price. Again, this is all just speculation on my part.

I don't play live anymore (well hardly) and so StompIO is at a price point that doesn't make sense for me anyway.

Between AT2, ATJHE, my Toneport UX1 with multiple packs and my RP350 I'm pretty much set for what I need....well, except for the Strat and Fender Bassman I've been eyeing :hihi:

Squids wrote:So, I also asked if it was okay that I mentioned the new wah that comes with Stomp IO. I should add that there also some KILLER fuzz boxes too. YAY! Not just the Fuzzface which is cool but there are some other "fuzzier" fuzz boxes too. I can't say which just yet but when I do I think you will be as pysched as I am (some of you will be). Anyway, I will drop a hint of what's in there, here and there. The WAH I was talking about is a model of the classic VOX wah!!!!!!

This was the first solid statement regarding it. As you may recall, the news originally came out that StompIO would come packed with all of this extra cool stuff above and beyond regular Amplitube2. As the news evolved it was revealed that the new models were to be a separate "add-on" set known as Jimi Hendrix Edition that could be fully integrated inside of AT2 (later evolving into X-GEAR) and that StompIO would ship with all of it. It's been such a slow evolution revealed across so many posts on 2 massive threads, trade show press releases and news items that I can't recall for sure where it was specifically revealed that StompIO was coming loaded with both AT2 and ATJHE, but it's in there somewhere, either this thread or somewhere after the page link of the other thread posted above.

I really hope IKMM is not going back on that now. If they want to give a substitution option to get Metal free with StompIO, then it should be to swap out the included ATJH Edition that they originally promised. Metal is equivalent to ATJHE in scope and price, not the much more expensive and expansive AT2.

And if they are adamant about going back on their word to include both Amplitube2 AND ATJHE, then at the very least they should give the option of choosing Amplitube2, AmpegSVX, or Metal+ATJH. That would cover all the bases so customers are far less likely to get stuck with software they've already bought, AND no one gets ripped off with lesser valued software. Really though it should be a choice of Amplitube2/AmpegSVX + Hendrix/Metal. That would be one $400 title plus one $250 title, and most users could build a reasonably valued combo that they haven't already purchased in full or in part.

There are a few things in AT Metal that I'm interested in. Even back in the thread linked above, I was calling for either an MXR M-117 or Boss BF-2 flanger model. Metal has both. Also I'm interested in knowing which classic 100W "British" (Marshall) amp is modeled in AT Metal. Anyone know?

IKMM already did the JCM800 in AT2 and the JTM45/100 (later known as the 1959 Super Lead) in ATJHE, so I wonder if it's much of a departure from either, or more or less a reprisal of one of those.

I suspect it's a 100-watt JMP Master Volume, which is the same thing as the JCM800 2203, since the AT2 JCM800 is the 50-watt 2204 model, not the 100-watt 2203 model. The 100-watt 2203 is the classic metal amp of the late '70s and early '80s, used by the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Iron Maiden, etc.

I don't know...I don't remember anyone from IK saying anything like that and I don't remember it being in any of the press releases. Squids may have hinted at it based upon something they told him might happen. That's the risk of asking for insider info :hihi:

From my perspective, you can't blame Squids and you can't blame IK. This is the deal, buy it or don't or do as you're doing and voice your objections. Objections on KVR have in fact influenced things in the past.

What you CAN blame IK for is the absolutely ridiculous announcement schedule. I mean, the StompIO has been coming since I was a toddler ;-)

On the whole, it's all good with me...I'm getting X-Gear fer free and it's really all I needed anyway  Not that I wouldn't want the StompIO, cuz if I had the money, I think it's cool as :-o
