Has anyone used the E-mu 0202 Beta drivers for Vista? How are they? I am seriously considering purchasing one of these units but they have yet to release official Vista support. They said they would do it in the last quarter of 2007 so it should be anyday now...?

How is E-mu with their support? I own an Xboard 25 and it works fine with me.

I would verify the returns policy if you buy an E-mu device, as some folks have
unsupported hardware/chipsets, and driver updates to a beta OS like vista are problematic,
just too much various hardware for the driver budgets of smalltime outfits like Creative Labs and MicroSoft, to both supply quality drivers, and rake in profits, it's one or the other, and guess who loses. E-mu does offer a great software bundle, so if it doesn't work, an m-audio or Presonous could be tried. The nice Xboard should work as the dongle for the 0202 bundled software. Then sell off the 0202 by itself.

I was hoping to use the 0202 actually. It seems like the best buy for the money (~$100).

I had a 1212M for several years, and it was nothing but trouble. When it worked it worked ok, but sometimes it would flake out and force me to reinstall drivers for no good reason. The drivers were always being update (and NOT to add more features I promise you). I believe for the money you should check out http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/A ... -main.html

Unless you REALLY need the optical digital i/o, they have the same features. The 2496 has been ROCK SOLID for me, can run at lower latencies consistanly, and they have NON-Beta Vista (32) drivers out now (not that I would touch Vista with a 10 foot pole, but that is another thread

)

And if you are anything like me, the bundled software goes unopened anyway.

Looks awesome, I might consider getting one if they have it in USB format.
