Ok guys, I need your help in doing this trick :
Basically, I'm trying to do a V-Synth-esque time trip pad in Shortcircuit, using the pitchbend and modwheel. This will seriously be one of the coolest tricks, if we can pull it off. Here's what I have so far :
1).Load up a drum loop and set playback mode to fwd loop. Set pitch band range to 0.
2).Load a microgate in FILTER 1. Set hold to 5 seconds, loop to 100%, threshold to 6dB (just so that you don't accidentally trigger the loop) reduction to 0dB.
3).In the mod matrix :
[modwheel] [100%] [lag1]
[lag1] [-98%] [rate(linear)] where lag1 =some nice number like 3.248s, just so that the reaction is sluggish, and also the sample keeps playing and hence the -98% or -90% if you wish, instead of -100%
[pitchbend up] [-18.5dB] [f1:threshold] - when you raise the pitchbend, it triggers the gate, and starts playing back the buffer for 5 seconds, as if it just froze the sound. Perfect.
The problem is, how do you close the gate? I want to use pitch bend down to close the gate, but closing the gate itself seems like an impossible task. If you use [pitchbend down] [100%] [amp], it reduces the volume AFTER the filter. I wish there was a pre-filter "level" parameter which would easily solve this problem.
Any of you guys who knows how to close the gate, please do share - this will make a really cool effect. Combined with tempo sync, you can create mad freeze effects.

If you have a spare filter/effect space left...
1. Set effect/filter to GATE
2. Set Hold to the lowest value.
3. Set threshold to a NEARLY-LOWEST value. (not exactly -144dB, but just a bit more. -137dB is sufficient)
4. Set reduction to -144dB
5. On modmatrix, have the following settings:
PITCHBEND DOWN -- +144dB -- f1/f2 THRESHOLD
This way, on the LOWEST pitchbend it's cut off completely.
1. Set effect/filter to GATE
2. Set Hold to the lowest value.
3. Set threshold to a NEARLY-LOWEST value. (not exactly -144dB, but just a bit more. -137dB is sufficient)
4. Set reduction to -144dB
5. On modmatrix, have the following settings:
PITCHBEND DOWN -- +144dB -- f1/f2 THRESHOLD
This way, on the LOWEST pitchbend it's cut off completely.

Oh wow - turns out that p.f. gain is actually pre filter gain. So I tried that, and it still doesn't go out of playing the buffer.
I'm stuck at this point - certainly need some help from any of you guys. I really, REALLY want the V-Synth effect.

Update : Oh well, a little progress has been made :
Clone the zone, and make it such that the freezer only plays on pitch bend up. On pitch bend down, decrease the buffer's loop size.
Now, you only get the freeze effect on pitch bend up, and on releasing it, it plays the normal loop. The disadvantage here is that, if the buffer is 2 seconds, it plays the old buffer when you engage the pitch bend the second time within 2 seconds.
Oh well, thats the closest i can get, i guess. But if there was a way to reset the buffer, man that would have been awesome. That's all I need really.

2). You release the pitch bend, or you move the pitch bend down, and the sound comes back to normal. When you do 1) again, the sound freezes from where it was playing previously.
This is the freezer effect. This combined with rate will give us an effect close to the V-Synth time trip pad effect.

A bit of a touchy sort of thing we're getting here. You'll have to play around with the threshold setitngs on the microgate to sort of set a range where you want it active or not. Otherwise, what you're trying to achieve might not be possible due to limitations. (Or it could be, but it would involve a different controller than the pitchbend, something like a toggling button. What I want is for the microgate to stop playing the loop, after i activate a controller of somekind.
EDIT: On another note, in order to achieve that you will have to "trigger" the MICROGATE HOLD value to a lower value, as this is what's preventing from the buffer to stop.

Tried using a toggle CC (CC2) to set the hold value to -8to : doesn't work. 
I'm open to using 4 filters (using the group effects), and how many ever clones, and how many ever controllers it takes to get this freeze sound to work. So far, the 2-sample crossfading thing seems to be the closest, but given SC's flexibility, I would hope for a better solution.
Perhaps we could ask Claes?

Finally I get a break!
Ok, it has dawned on me that microgate is not the only girl in town with a buffer.
The group effect : "digi delay" has a buffer too. And with the feedback set to -0.1 we can get an almost infinite playback of the buffer (set the low cut and high cut such that it doesnt cut anything).
The good news is, unlike the microgate, the digi delay shuts the f*ck up when you reduce the feedback to -144dB. Now to figure out the mod src and destinations to create the effect we want.

Ok, here's the V-Synth time trip-esque effect
First, load the sample and loop it. Map modwheel to rate, with a value like -175% or -200%.
Now put the sample in a group, and load "gate" in effect 1, and "digidelay" in effect 2.
Try the following parameters :
Effect1 :
hold : .977ms
threshold : -32dB
reduction : -96dB
Effect2:
wet level : -138dB
time : 430ms
feedback : -141.4dB
low cut : 3.4 Hz
high cut : 28.16 kHz
tempo sync : off (or on if you prefer)
In the group mod routing :
[pitchbend up] [+144dB] [e2:wet level]
[pitchbend up] [+144dB] [e2:feedback]
[pitchbend up] [+63.2dB] [e1:threshold]
[modwheel] [-1.7to] [e2:time]
When you have pitchbend up, the buffer doesn't see any other changes in sound, so to playback the sample in reverse, quickly release the pitch bend, while modwheel is slightly up, and then move the pitch bend up quickly, so now you'll have the reversed sound in a loop.
You can put the rate as a destination in the group mod routing also, instead of putting it at the zone level. You lose one advantage, which is to have the lag parameter act as a middleman between the mod movement and the rate.
Finally I can go to bed.

First, load the sample and loop it. Map modwheel to rate, with a value like -175% or -200%.
Now put the sample in a group, and load "gate" in effect 1, and "digidelay" in effect 2.
