I don't know how original it is but I have a Remote 49 (not SL) and the XY pad is useless. You have to press hard, it's not smooth, and it's impossible to send each value - only sends like every third or fourth.

The keybed is pretty nice, though.

nothing particular in mind but it would be interesting to know the options.

and does the live one only work with the latest incarnation of live, im only using 5.2 (not sure if i will be upgrading)

Well you can in theory create your own config for any software that has reasonable support for key/MIDI binding. It's using an elaborate set-up with Bomes MIDI Translator: http://www.bome.com/midi/translator/

only had it a week or so and already finding it so useful that im not sure how i managed before :/

Has anyone had troubles with driver conflicts on Windows XP with their PadKontrol and other USB MIDI controllers?
For some reason I can't run/install my Ztar at the same time as the PadKontrol. It's really frustrating as I need that extra functionality to switch presets and the like.

Anyone??

Funny enough, no. I'm able to use it with my 2 BCR200's, Radium 61 and Ozone. No software conflicts knock on wood. - Orbit-50

Nope. The only thing that's been an issue was my KP3, which didnt like being on the same USB controller as a couple of other bits. But as controllers Ive got two ReMotes, a PadKontrol, a KP3 and an Edirol UR80 all coexisting peacefully.

Try a different set of USB ports, though, same as I did with the KP3.

Don't forget to download this collection of padkontrol scenes.

"This collection contains the following Scenes and Scene Sets represented as scales
chromatically set for the Korg PadKontrol: Major, Minor, Blues Major, Blues Minor, Ethnic,
Harmonic Major, Harmonic Minor, Hindu, Major Diminished, Minor Diminished, Bebop Major,
Bebop Minor, Melodic Minor, and the Chromatic Scale of the keybed. Since the PadKontrol
doesn't have flat symbols, everything is represented in sharps (b flat = A#, etc.). Every
scale has every note as a root (ex.A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, and G#) so all
key sigs should be represented. There were some mistakes that have been corrected before
uploading, but probably not all of them (maybe a note here or there), but they should be
quite easy to fix.

There are 157 Scene Sets total, and 624 individual scenes in this collection"

Ever since I got these I've been using my padKontrol for all kinds of things.

I also got a snare stand and attached it to the snare stand so I can tilt it towards myself and play it like a drum. I love it now

i was reffering to the kontrol pad

still one of my fave tools, definitely glad i spent the cash

ill have to have a look at the midi translators when i have more time, those scenes look pretty cool too, will have to grab those ...

Hm, I don't have a padKontrol, but I do have a Remote61 and a Remote25SL and I find that once you get used to the differences the feel of the Remote is pretty nice. I like that you have to work a little, but maybe that's because I'm mostly a guitar player. Matter of opinion I guess. How does the keyboard compare? I know I tried a LOT of controllers before I settled on the Novation due to the great feel of the keyboard. Also, more important, they have aftertouch.

I will say that the Novation SL's automap feature in Live is worth the extra cash for one of these. If you consider your time valuable.
