Hello
I was looking for a Korg Delta String machine emulation, but couldn't find any...

Some infos & sounds here, and there...

I know Stringeris a killer at emulating vintage strings synths, but i would like something somewhat more feature-restricted focusing more on the original hardware stuff... (in one word : a closer emulation with more of the original features, like the vector pad, etc).

If you know any, thanks for letting know !

The Korg Delta now that's an interesting one! I wish it was available as a VSTi, actually that is the Synth Korg should do their next VSTi Emulation of?

Yes.
Well, i wouldn't say "no" to a Tridentemu, of course, but the Delta is everything except bloated, and each feature makes it quite unique.
The kind of synth which you can say about "less is more".

You're a Wusik user, right? Dash has some Delta strings on the Evalon soundset. I used to have a Delta and I wish I had never sold it. I was new to analog synths and didn't realize you could run audio through the filter on it. It was very nice sounding.

No, i am not.
And i think i am mostly interested in a "closed" emulation, which can'"t do anything else that the Delta does, than a sampleset (Stringer is fine for that).

Right, "less is more" on that note a MicroKorg Emulation wouldn't be bad either.

I bought a Delat with some friends in 1988 for £160. I bought out their shares in ~1991. Fab synth loved it. Sadly, had to sell it just after getting married as we NEEDED cash (also had to sell a rather nice electric with active pickups). I got £40 for it, for which I was gutted, but it meant we could buy food.

I loved the way the filter borrowed the amp EG. A much underrated synth that came out at just slightly the wrong time.

Being as I'm now in the VST-line, there's no reason I couldn't do something - so if anyone fancies offering me a commission

Thing is, a Delta wasn't just a string machine, the synth part added alot. You could do quite nice stuff like set the attacks up so you get a layered effect of lowpass sweep fading into a string pad coming up from underneath. Not a bad effect for such a simple machine. It was limited, but I used it as something for moogy basses, overdriven hammond-like effects, stringy stuff, swirling pads thx to the random modulation...

String Machine is good, but just doesn't cover all of it!

If I had some raw waveforms of the synth osc, the string osc, and a LP and BP filter sweepsat different resonances, that would be a decent start in getting something built..

Indeed, that is why i am after it

I have a MS-20, and dig the Korg way of doing synths, and i am into string machines atm...

Mmh, nice proposition. It is very kind from you, DUNcan.
I'd like to say "Yes ! go ahead !!", but sadly I won't, as i don't have the money to "comission" anyone...

(and i don't have any single idea on the usual price you'd pay to hire someone to make a synth !?).
But if you're up to build one, and sell it for a cheap price, I'd be pleased to sign in for some kind of a pre-release group-buy...
I don't know if that would worth it for you ?

I can also contribute in trying to find someone with such a synth, and ask him to provide sound samples.

The really interesting thing about the Delta was that it had unlimited polyphony, like an organ, but only one filter. I used to run mine through a Yamaha chorus stomp-box and it shat all over the Roland RS09 that I had used previously. It shouldn't be too hard to make something kind of similar and it would be very CPU-friendly if done properly.
