Curious, Cygnus-SF works here in Cantabile and Reaper, but not
S3/Stringz2...were they developed in different sytems? Cygnus-SF is really nice! Thanks very much :)

i'm maybe the biggest stringmachine-fan on the planet ... hmmmm ...
not to be an ass, but at least the mp3 doesn't sound like a stringmachine at all ... it sounds nice as what it is, don't get me wrong, but putting some modulating allpass on some detuned, chorussed saw's (or alike) doesn't replicate the typical sound of a stringmachine ...
you should have an eye on the bucket brigade device ensemble-circuit and a smallstone/electric misstress phaser to get what the originals made so special ... not to speak of the orginal osc shapes that are very unique ...

thats OK this is the machine that string machines wish they sounded like..

Seriously though the term String-machines covered a pretty wide range of instruments ( a yamaha SS sounded nothing like an eminent etc.) but I do agree that I haven't gone for a definitive model. I am thinking that GMedias VSM will give you a totally accurate rendition as well as some extra functionality.

It uses different modules from Cygnus, does it give any form of error message?

Took a little time warming up too but works wonderfully, not the sounds I expected from a string machine but that's good now. Warm and wonderful, thank you. :)

believe me, i've heard/had them all ... ;)
and yes, there we're also horrible sounding ones out there ...
still, the uniqueness was also there with the bad ones, justlike i said in my previous posts, it depends on the design of the osc's as well as on the bbd ensemble circuit to get that feeling ...

i've heard the gmedia vsm ... i wasn't impressed.
basically because it's just a sample collection with some stringmachine samples (remember the xxlarge stringmachine-library? thatone was way better) and:

1. some of the stringmachines in vsm we're really not sounding like the ones they claimed to have sampled (have you ever heard a real rs202? the one on the vsm just has nothing to do with the real thing).

2. the phaser and the filter are lame, imo (which is a big issue, imo) ...

so, finally, i have way more respect for you than for the g-media ones, as, after imposcar (one of the most realistic emulations out there), i find it to be a big step back for g media to release an average sample library embedded into a cheap sounding sample player ...

Yeh, I don't do offence. I was interested in your comments regarding VSM.. Is there a String Machine out there that does pass muster?

I liked this plugin a lot. It doesn't sound like an analog, but I didn't really expect it to - it does, however, sound like a really lush, synthetic pad machine. I like it a lot.
