Hi,
I want to 'warm up' my synths / outboard effect units for recording. I would like to know if there is a tube device I can run stereo in/outs in my chain.
I don't have anything that has valves, is there such a device?

There are lots, but those that are really worth it, are pretty expensive. What's your budget?

Hi,
about £100 to £150 ($200 - $300)

Not worth it, put your money elsewhere. Or save up..

For that money you get a POS box with one tube in it run by a wall wart that doesn't deliver nearly the voltage the tube wants to see to work properly. These devices are referred to as plate starved tube circuits. They result in added distortion and noise, but no true tube warmth.

My advise is to either work with your source programming or save your money for a true tube unit in the 4 figure range.

It's not valves, but an analog LP filter can do some decent warming. There are lot's to choose from, and it's def. cheaper than a proper valve pre-amp or compressor.

Ok, thanks everyone for the good advice! ;)
