Supraaural phones? AKG 141s?

Yeah, another headphones thread...

Just looking for a cheap pair of phones that I can chuck in my bag, leave lying about in the presence of an inquistive three year old etc...

Won't be recording vocals or anything with them so isolation isn't an issue. No heavy mixing but a fairly decent, neutral sound would be a big plus (naturally...) I guess comforts a biggie for me, always used supraaural phones, don't really like circumaural ones, too hot...

So, any supraaural phones worth the trouble? Most recommendations around here seem to be for the likes of the 240s, maybe they're ok being semiopen..?

Any thoughts appreciated.

I'm happy with my closed BeyerDynamic DT770's. Quite solid, not really "portable" sized though.

Supra aural phones usually mean phones that sit on the ear pinnae, but don't enclose the pinnae - which is what circumaural means.

Both of these types can be open or closed back designs.

I just picked up a cheap ($42) pair of supra-aural, closed back design Philips phones from Best Buy.

I would not recommend these for durability - they seem pretty cheaply constructed.

Yeah, like Scott says, phones that sit on your ear rather than clamp on the side of your head.

AKG 141s are my pick of the moment if anyone's used them..?
