Omnisphere core details from the FAQ... (a summary)

1. Core Library is ten times the size of Atmosphere (at least 40 - 50GB). :o

2. Omnisphere is a synth version "an extension" of Atmosphere in some way.

3. All the Atmoshpere patches are included. :o

4. It replaces Atmoshpere.

5. Upgrade path available for registered users.

6. Price drop for Atmosphere.

7. Omnisphere is expandable (but not stated how exactly).

8. Sample import not ruled out for the future.

9. The plug is definitely UB.

10. Trilogy will be based on Steam (maybe a total re write :) ).

Gulp.
And we paid $399 for Atmosphere with 1/10th the content. Sounds like a bargain.

I like how they'll have the Groove of RMX be able to synch to the sounds in Omnisphere. Very neat.

Will I have to upgrade my current electrically-powered computer to a new steam-powered one in order to run it?

they sure sur know how to create a buzz with the bare minimum info, and it's coming out in 9 months...

will probably be great though.

Looks to be about the closest thing to Eric-in-a-box as we're liable to get... ;)

IMO this isn't an extension to Atmosphere at all... Atmos was a ROMpler with sample playback and basic subtractive features. This has that, but also a ton of realtime stuff, apparently, like granular synthesis, wavetable, RM/FM, and what looks to be some new proprietary methods. Not to mention the chaos envelope stuff and onboard FX, which, if RMX's versions were any indication, will be amazing.

I'm poised with my credit card :)

Well, I know what I'll be getting myself for *INSERT CLOSEST HOLIDAY*

Good Lord, I'll be broke in no time if all of NAMM is like this. Good thing we have so many obscure holidays. :D

Post

I like Spectrasonics but they shouldn't have released this news at NAMM and then given us an actual release date of 9 months away. Not good in my opinion.

I wonder if the steam engine comes with half life

I cant wait to check this one out.
