Spectrasonics Omnisphere!

Just woke up (I'm on graveyard shift this week) and just watched/listend to the video. Excuse me a minute...
Okay, now I've got clean pants on...
Damn! A few seconds of 1 patch, & I'm hooked. It was reminiscent of the THX thingie in the movies, but somehow better. (Does make me wonder if it has any kind of multiple output stuff available, for surround & such.)
I was planning to pick up Stylus RMX & Atmosphere next month with my tax refund. Even nicer now that the price on the latter has dropped, and there's an upgrade path to Omnisphere.
I'm getting married in August, & my birthday is in October, so I guess Omnisphere is going to be my gift to myself for those two events. I can see wasting a lot of time, er, I mean doing a lot of composing, with this puppy. Good thing I have a fiance who's also a musician, and understands my problem with G.A.S. She even bought me an 88 note controller for Christmas last month.
Despite the huge sample pool, which I'm sure will be gorgeous, based on what Eric's done so far, I'm really juiced about the synthesis parameters. He mentioned things like hard sync & pwm, which would be great if they can affect the samples. And then there's all the other parameters...
I'm sold.

Everyone keeps mentioning that the release date (September 15th) is 9 months away. No, no, no it is only 8 months away . . . no strike that, its only 7.93 months away.

Oh hey, so am I. I own Atmosphere, Trilogy, and RMX so it's not as though I'm not already squarely in the Spec camp. Can we all say "upgrade price"? I thought we could.@l3x!5 wrote:So that you can start saving about 2 dollars & 5 cents a day in order to have the cash in timegnu23 wrote:And its not available until September 08. I am SO doing this
I just have a healthy disrespect for hype, however much I like the company engaging in it. I know they have a marketing war to fight, but I don't have to like it. Tactically, however, it is a major shot across the bow to every other VST vendor out there. Any loose dollars that might have gone elsewhere are now being held in reserve for Omnisphere.
...and it damned well better come with a copy of Half-Life 3!
We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

I smell one of those long long "wrigly" type threads comming on. (er, longer than the already longness
)
9 months is a long time. However I like the 2.05 cents analogy, maybe by then I can actually afford it!

Honestly....9 months...8 months...is not that long of a wait considering the wealth of tools most of us probably already have at our disposal. In 2007 alone I bought Nexus, Proteus X, Fantom XR, a V-Synth GT, and a Korg M3. I'm STILL trying to find time to really get into the GT so I'm pretty good for now. I know impatience is a b*tch, but seriously we're tlaking about Spectrasonics here. of course it will be worth the wait.
I'd really like to see what EastWest's Forbidden Planet is about, but most likely I'm not buying it. Same for Stormdrum 2.
Anyone have any news on a Korg Legacy 2008 update?

That's exactly the one question I was missing from being answered in the FAQ:DocAtlas wrote:JDoes make me wonder if it has any kind of multiple output stuff available, for surround & such.
Does it have surround sound features?
