A few of you may be aware that ive been creating a MIDI controller using a Pocket PC at the ableton forum.

Im expanding my project. Ive got bored with the fact that my controller makes no sounds of it's own.

Im not happy with current vst technology so im creatng my own plugin Music application.

The plugins will work both on the Desktop PC's and Pocket PC's so multiple people can operate the single desktop pc remotly or play while at work on your coffee breaks using just your pocket PC's then upload you track to your desktop when you get home.

As each Pocket PC has it's own sound card I thought about the idea of each person being able to preview there own tracks before sending it to the audiance.

EVEYTHING is going to be plugin based, so if for example you don't like the default mixer, just replace it with one that someone else has developed using my (SDK)software development kit.

Types of Plugins are:
Input plugins: Soundards, MIDI KEyboards, Joysticks etc.
MIDI Effects: arps etc.
Synth Plugins: synth, drum machines etc.
Audio Effects Plugins: Echo delay ect.
Output Plugins: MIDI keyboards, soundcards etc.
Tools Plugins: Audio editors etc.

My application will be closed source but you will get the FULL source code to the project so you can make any mods you like and submit them to be included in next version so everyone benefits.

If you have any other ideas then please let me know!! :)

Anyway's here some screenshots of my MIDI controller:

And here a screenshot of the ideas i have for the desktop app:

This looks very cool... do you have system requirements for the PocketPC's for your controller app and this new application (or a link to your site)?

I would love a filter explorer app like Toby Bears on my iPaq.

The requirement is going to be the new windows mobile 5. Im rewirinting the Pocket PC application to use direct which is only available in version 5.

Sorry, no web site as yet.

Is there a posibility to release a beta of the ableton controller (draw some faders, knobs, XY...) for the fans? :D

I've only just picked up on this thread which appears to have gone dead. The ideas looked fantastic, is there any chance that the app might get released, or the original controller application, even in an unfinished state?

I really hope that this keeps going.

Ive totally lost interest in the project, pocket PC's only have single touch screens so would not be that much fun except in a band situation, but even then would be better to use midi keyboards and midi controllers. Was just an idea which i got carried away with.

As for releasing it even in its unfinished state, ill have a look and see if I still have the code.

BUT, if your interested in stage/disco/theatrical Lighting vst then check this mother out.:

If you want a really good plug in architecture check out eclipse (Java)

It is an IDE so you have to add the music stuff but the architecture is pretty good.

Has anyone tried Mixtikl from Intermorphic? It is the next evolution of miniMIXA (made by the Tao Group). Well worth looking at if you're interested in Windows Mobile music apps.

I'm guessing that this is dead now, but have you thought about making this project for the iPhone?

I was excited for a second when I read about this project just now, ive been trying to see if hteres any way to use this old Win Mobile 03 PPC as a second controller for Ableton, sad to see nothing came of it.

The ratio of music apps for Apple multitouch to every other handheld has to be like, 20000:1
