just a suggestion...we all know about the amp sim thread, we've all had a little fun with it (okay a lot). I have to be honest and say I was a little reluctant to download Rene's compressor because of that thread (read that right please, not because of just Rene's actions though that is part of it). This compressor seems to have some issues, I hope that KvR will allow Rene to make or break himself on this. We all deserve a second chance and this should be his.
One of the questions stemming from the other thread was how would he react to bugs and issues. Now is his chance to show us, let's give him that chance...I think it is best for all. I also think when discussing inertia that we should keep our comments on that comp in the thread that was started for it.
I'm not gonna blow smoke up anyone's britches, Rene seriously hurt is reputation on the amp sim. But now he has a chance to right the ship and I think we should give him that shot.
*disclaimer: This is just my opinion and if KvR doesn't agree I understand, also I only stand by my comment for now...my opinion could change in the blink of an eye. It wont take much for me turn on this, the ball is in his court now and what he does is up to him.

After 19 minutes that you had the demo it was already 'all done' for you.shamann wrote: Man, I tried your compressor, but it didn't create all sorts of nasty, unpleasant clicks all over my audio. I think it must be broken.
My fault that the manual is not ready yet, sorry.'sound remarkably plippyclicky, no matter what setting I use (if set everything to barely use the compressor, it is at least milder, if still present).'
If people would have tried to understand its functions(not that easy),
or would had ask they might came up with something like:
http://hotsearch.us//downloads/vs_Slammer_vs.wav
5.45mb
http://hotsearch.us//downloads/vs_Slammer_vs.mp3
760kb
One of the 2 processed drums is S l a m m e r the other a highly regarded
expensive plug-in.
Still, as I said,
I will remove the clicking for the next version.
Sorry, my net was too bad. There is no link for the demo, that sucks...
And the Soundspectral website has NOT been updated
I fix that when possible again.

[edit] Righty, I've split off most of the Inerthia posts into this thread:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=204415
I left the first posts on Inerthia, the ones that were in the early bits comparing various GUIs. If I missed any that ought to have been split off, or moved any posts that ought not to have been split, sorry -- post again and bill me for your time. I'll send the bills to those million ducks we've been hearing about lately.

Don't act like there was some evil force to derail Rene's plugin; there was no other thread until a little while ago.Hink wrote:thanx Meffy
As far as a second chance, this is the worst compressor I've ever loaded into a host, bar none. Rene's suggesting to persons like myself and shamann that we're somehow unable to figure out his plug's architcture bodes ill for 'how would he react to bugs and issues'..

I don't want to sound rude, and i am no compressor expert, but, to my ears, none of those 2 demos are "amazing" or "mindblowing" :
- I think the first one is a bit too "flattened", and with a tad too much bass (it is rzther ok on this example, but i fear it gets a lot muddy if you use several instances, or if you have a bass track playing together, etc).
- The second one definitively has sharper transients and deals better with the bass, but some clicking is audible.
- I think in these 2 examples the psychoacoustic factor which could make the listener say "wow", is "increase the input volume and limit the output", so "louder = seems better", which is not really a proper argument to judge a comp quality...
My 2 or 3 cents.

That was my point in making the joke earlier, too. I'm not sure why I'd need a manual for a plugin with only nine parameters. It really doesn't take long to run through a significant number of configurations in order to understand it.Sickle wrote:As far as a second chance, this is the worst compressor I've ever loaded into a host, bar none. Seriously - if the effects are intended, don't call it a compressor but "transient enhancer" or whatever.Midiworks wrote:After 19 minutes that you had the demo it was already 'all done' for you.shamann wrote: Man, I tried your compressor, but it didn't create all sorts of nasty, unpleasant clicks all over my audio. There's been no suggestion that there was any evil thread-derailing conspiracy. :-} Just trying to keep things at least semi-organized. I can't merge threads or move posts from one to another. Splitting is the only tool I have for manipulating threads at the post level. Not perfect but at least the Inerthia posts aren't buried in this thread now.

I haven't tried it yet and tbh I might not. Like I said when he first posted this, I really do not need any more compressors. Samplitude has that all covered quite well including multiband (AA does too imo). My suggestion for a second chance is about his level of commitment and how he listens to suggestions. If this comp sux it sux, but I want to know how he reacts to it...just in case the amp sim comes out, he's breaking new ground here for him.As far as a second chance, this is the worst compressor I've ever loaded into a host, bar none. No no, I know you meant that Inerthia and it sure does look nice. I didn't post towards what you had saidbmanic wrote:Perhaps you are mistaken? The designer went for photo-realism and got it all wrong lol
Photorealism indeed and I think he got it just right.
Cheers!

I meant all the comments on the "beautiful" looks of that Slammer comp..
Cheers

I see nothing rude in being honest. It's up to the dev, not the customer, to provide the best demos and prove the value of the software. When the demos aren't good, the plug is unlikely to be better, IMO.sinkmusic wrote:mmmh.
