What are some of the oddest most unconventional sounds you have heard used in music?

The Hoover probably takes the cake for being one of the most recognizable, and defining sounds. I guess, all sounds are odd though. And with computers, they can get really out there. Bass is hard to be odd. Cymbals, those types of things. if you make a pad to odd sounding its not a pad anymore. only so much can be done with in that respect. But i do like sounds scapes. I also think, one of the oddest sounds in music would be the Voice of Bob Dylan. That is a class a, strange sound.

Because it was encoded data, what you heard for each message sounded like a whistle followed by a burst of old-fashioned modem noise, not speech.

I have tried, at various times, to work samples of my parrot into music. I haven't been terribly successful. Mind you, I haven't been terribly successful at music even without the parrot noises.

BTW, what's up with capitalizing the first letter of every word? I can understand the people who don't bother with any capitals, but...

the first three minutes of gary numan's cars was composed using these sounds:

1. a man taped a steak pie to the rear window of a fiat 127, hit it with a melon covered in football socks, and recorded the sound of the melon hitting the ground (which was, for that particular take) made of clams

2. gary recorded the sound of himself licking an austrian fisherman who was walking his pet pony

Heard Bruce Adolphe's parrot Polly Rhythm singing (more or less) the Queen of the Night's aria from Mozart's "The Magic Flute"? Not too shabby.

Wait until people start putting their last.fm links in their sigs...you'll see a lot of people starting a lot of 'unnecessary' topics, and replying to EVERY post.

That's how titles are written...(except "In" and "Are" and "The" shouldn't be capitalized).

A title, and an answer to the OP's question: "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict" by the Pink Floyd. Practically the whole thing.

The tape collage interludes in Zappa's "Uncle Meat." (And maybe other early albums?)

From Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother," the kitchen sound effects in Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast. Match strikes. Faucet drip-tonome. The entire magnificent cold cereal experience.

I know; and also used for Dramatic Effect in Winnie the Pooh books (after whom I am somewhat named.) It just looked odd outside of a title, especially with the smaller words capitalized. Hey, this time I also included an answer to the OP and not just a complaint about style.

In some track of Steve Vai's Passion And Warfare there is a scream that could just be an impressive string bend.

As Vai admits in an interview, it's actually him "helping" his cat in heat with a thermometer and the cat letting out a big scream.
