why is there a razor blade at the 12th fret?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

That guitar really has a different ... uh ... theme.
This is giffed.
I didn't even notice. I just started laughing at the Night Fever axe.

Congrats mr muff that's one gorgeous amp... and I see they export to Aus/NZ. Thinking thinking thinking...

I started a thread recently in Hardware 'One amp to rule them all', but the more research I did the more I came back to something small and sweet like you've just acquired. And it looks so right!

I was going to pick up a Fender Cyber Twin, and then, I KNOW, I would be spending the bulk of my time rooting about for a specific 'sound'

I realised that you don't really need a million sounds and a gazillion effects... just a couple will do.

I would like to try before I buy though. Could be difficult, understandably, if you have to order an amp from the states.

You've got a blindingly individual and characterful amp there

You must be feeling utterly on heat

I suppose it's waste of time saying try to get some sleep tonight
thanks!! Indeed, individual and characterful is very much what I was after. Unfortunately it isn't here yet - but the lack of sleep should kick in any day now :hihi:

Yurty - I came to the same conclusion - something small, sweet, handcrafted and soulful is just what I was after, and I'm sure I've found it here. getting to spend some time with one first sealed the deal, I can't spend that much money on a 'hope' that it's the right thing

thanks guys 8)

I was asked if I would take a couple photos of sweet #316 for the Swart website, so i I thought I would make some lower-res copies of the better ones to put up here at the forum. Will probably blog a couple of them as well. enjoy.

First up, a shot of the tube chart. I like this for a few reasons - Michael has been building these since '94 (i believe). Anyway, mine was built 2 weeks ago, and it's #316. Not sure why, but I love that. I just like handmade things a lot.

The other thing I like about this pic is the martini glass doodle. Apparently he puts this on the amp that is the best out of each test batch. He told me "they all sound great, but I can usually find the pick of the litter. congrats!" That's some sweet luck for me 8)

Now this was amazing..... this amp, with a bit of it's onboard reverb, sounds STUNNING with the theremin. I've never heard anything like it, so haunting. I think they were made for each other....

I have the GA5H and have done a load of mods to it. Get yourself to http://www.sewatt.com/vj-mods and sign up and read about all the mods.

The ga5h on its own is pretty weak, but it takes pedals really well. do at least the output transformer swap, the R1 and R2 mods and change the crap tone control on it and you are laughing. Best value amp out there :D
