Not free, but, depending on how much money you figure your time is worth, you might want to check out the Galbanum Architecture set and save yourself a lot of effort hunting. Should keep you happily experimenting for quite some time. 1800 waveforms for $30:

EDIT: Pulled from A Cakewalk thread, this is apparently a ZIP of a demo set of the waveforms. One poster in this thread said that they worked fine in ShortCircuit for him.

i've downloaded the presets from the virus (just bank A)... but they are way too much "wet"....still i find some clean patches to use....

...i'll try to download the others banks... (that hardware unit has some crazy sounds !!!)
