It certainly looks good. What I don't get is why it takes another 8 months to release something which looks 'finished' - just bug fixes? I suppose I'd rather it was rock solid on initial release...

They need 8 months to perfect their advertising campaign and rewrite the dictionary to include words like 'astoundaphonic' and 'megagrandiosity'.

You can't really tell anything from looking at a demo.

It could be that they are still working on the sample content.
Still working on the patch design.
There could be synthesis algorithms that are not implemented or not finished yet.
There could be plugin formats/platforms still to build (they were only really demoing the Audio Unit Mac version).
They probably haven't started beta testing yet, to determine host compatibility (although much of this core functionailty would be ingerited from RMX, which is pretty solid in this regard.)
They could still be workfing on the manual.
They could still be working on the box/artwork/design.
THey could still be wrking on the website material.
They could still be getting song demos done.
They could still be upgrading their internal, accounting and ditribution systems to cope with the new product.

...and plenty more.

So just because you've heard a few sounds doesn't mean there isn't much to do...

yeah true - I guess they will have edited the videos to exclude the ten minutes while the GUI loads up... Just based on my experience with RMX.

exactly what i was trying to say. spot on.

still besides all that, omnisphere IS going to be a must-have for me. so i just try to ignore that and try to figure out the objective specs along the way. the way they presented certain features i got convinced they had a similar technology going on like Tone2 Gladiator, where you also make use of 'sampled' instruments... but now i'm very confused. and it's difficult to get a clear picture of what the technology is all about.

that's the only danger IMO... creating confusion and in the end people get disapointed when 'restructuring harmonic content' is "just" a timbre control (which is useful of course...but ya know.)

I'll be buying Omnisphere, but I won't be watching any more supercalifragilisticexpialidocious video's.

While sustaining 1 sound while switching to another isn't new on hardware units, this is the first I've seen it on a softsynth. I could see using this a lot for live performance.

Not the first, SQ8L can do that.

No offense, but people aren't exactly hyped up about Arturia products most of the time.. I don't personally know anyone that uses them and they're generally considered overpriced & clunky. Public opinion here about them is definitely not good. Their new products like this keyboard and Analog Factory seem uncreative and derivative at best, shameless cash cow milking at worst. So if they have a "flawless" demo it isn't doing much for their rep.

In short: Spectra has a 25 page thread about their new product. Where's the Arturia thread?
