When the sample doesnt stick

Iv got this sample that iv taken from an old 70s disco record. Its got drum & bass sections in it & Iv thrown a filter over the top of it.
I cut it up using Snapper & stretched it using Logic Studio. The time stretch algorithms in Logic arnt as good as others, so I might try something else.
Im trying to program drums over the top of it (the sample acts as bridge section) however the drum section in the sample dont line up with the grid in logic, so im getting that horrible gallop effect.
Any ideas?

But what about a bassline etc? I havent got that far yet, but I would assume I'll have the same issue?Lagrange wrote:render the programmed drums, open them on an adjacent audio track (to the original), slice up the newly rendered drums, place the separate hits DIRECTLY over the matching parts.
AFAICT this is THE MOST accurate way of matching patterns although there are other ways.

Not exactly the same method of matching. The transient of drums are highly defined making it a fairly easy to visually 'place' the pattern. Basslines present new problems. The shaping is totally different from percussive instruments and the frequency range can often give blurry analysis. When in doubt though, play it yourself

An alternative is I guess would be to trough the sample into Ableton, align the warp markers to the transient sections of the drums, lock it into place & bounce?Lagrange wrote:Not exactly the same method of matching. Im stretching a something around 118-120 to 125.
How would slicing it make any difference? There would be gaps in the passage right?

Iv kind of gotten around it by trimming the sample & side chaining it to the Kick & Snare buss. With the filter over the top of the sample I should be able to get away with it.
