I don't think it'll fool anyone into believing it's the real thing, but it's got some potential uses other softsynths don't cover, so for that I say well done

Nice sax-like sound. I like the bumpy bass too.

many thanks guys for the feedback, BTW I wonder is there any synth hardware or software which can actually fool someone into believing it's a real sax?
Something that you can play a solo, not a phrases player.
So far I tried some sample players and the AKAI EWI, also heard YAMAHA VL synths demos, they all sound synthetic, right? Well I have to wait for the WIVI Saxes maybe

Yeah, I can't imagine a synth sax solo fooling anyone. Although I played one phrase on the Arp 2600V which I swear sounds like a heavily processed sax (I think... I'll have to try and dig it up). I haven't tried Saxlab tho. Is it a combination sample/synth?

what I have noticed so far is that if you limit the range to about an octave and don't use much pitch bending it's easier to emulate it, in the example at the link above the most fake parts to my ears are when the notes are too high
or too low, or much pitch bending is used,
Your sound in the mp3 seems a guitar too me, <grin>

Sounds like a reed instrument,
not sure if sounds like a real sax in higher tunings.
But, yes, it's nice and usable sounding..

Hey
I used Saxlab (1) for the sax and flute sounds on this track http://soundclick.com/share?songid=3112950
Not the best example of what Saxlab can do but I had a lot of fun playing with it
