Had I known it would be this long I'd have released Squids Tron 2 last year. Hindsight is 20/20. But instead we went for the plug-in version which is what I really wanted. It's not easy to schedule between two companies both doing other huge projects and this one IS nitch... but it is a labor of love and I know that you guys are excited about it as am I. I will give you guys updates. I don't think we are going to do a group buy on it actually. But it will go on pre-order soon and you know when that happens it means it is only a month away give or take a week.
I'll keep you guys updated.
By the way, the engine and a lot of the sounds ARE different from MTron or MTron Pro. I think both are great to have. I'd get MTron Pro too. All of these are tiny costs compared to the real thing (man it has gotten expensive just for a Chamberlin M1... $6k????) Dave and Chris are also friends of ours and we also do products with M-Audio. I wish them the best with it. It was never my intent to rival what they did but rather expand on Squids Tron and offer my personal vintage samples in an engine that would make it a UNIQUE quirky workstation! For those that know... KNOW this is something extremely cool. It will be here soon. Don't worry. Wait until you Squids Tron 1 users hear the new stuff. Sick!

I guess it's this point exactly that has me frustrated. I have almost pulled the trigger on vol 1 a number of times, but always remind myself that sampletron is coming...
Question. If I buy Squids Tron Vol 1 (download) from esoundz NOW, can I get full credit towards sampletron????

Actually, I would have done it already but my PC had to have a re-install of the OS. I tried starting up without being plugged in and the battery came out in the midst of starting up. By the way, NEVER do that! Trust me. So, when I get my personal laptop PC back up and running I will make a little music with SampleTron to wet the appetite. It really is done. I am just doing the final "keywords" for the search engine is all and then it goes over to Italy this week and they'll have something together in February I think. Feel free to email them and bother them about it.analog orange wrote:You tease![]()

Anyway, quirky prog/experimental music coming right up!

Actually Squids Tron 1 has a bunch of stuff that SampleTron doesn't. So you would qualify for the same upgrade/crossgrade that other Squids Tron 1 users would. Although you MIGHT want to get Squids Tron 1 just for the things you don't get in SampleTron. I can tell you that it is a lot of the "Q" stuff (Q for quirky) and the non-looped full Ampex tube tron stuff is in Squids Tron but not in SampleTron (mostly looped stuff only and a cool trick for getting it to just last 8 seconds long and stop... with a knob to adjust it!).timmcallister wrote:Squids wrote:Wait until you Squids Tron 1 users hear the new stuff. thanks for info.
Any idea how much the up/crossgrade will be from V1 to Sampletron? (that tells me what the net price of V1 will end up being)
THANKS

I think $199. But I am not totally sure yet what the official word will be. I can tell you that we'd honor that price if you were getting it now and wanting to be "safe". So... in that case, that IS the price as far as you are concerned. If for any reason it was less (doubtful) then we'd make sure you were covered.timmcallister wrote:Squids wrote:

Thanks. Some companies have people who work for people who work for people who just follow the "policy" even if it isn't fair and they don't care or have the power to do anything about it to make it right. I deal with these kinds of companies all the time as a consumer myself! It's madness. So, no matter how big any company I own could possibly get there is no way I would lose sight of this very important thing. Whatever you do it has to be fair and reasonable for the customer because without them you have no business. Respect is a requirement as far as I am concerned and you ALWAYS have to look at things from the customer's perspective - even the individual customer who may have a particular situation to consider and then you adapt to them as much as you can! Seems simple. I don't know if some companies just don't want to or the right hand doesn't knwo what the left hand is doing or what... whatever that may be out in the 'real world' you won't find any of that with SR or esoundz. No matter how electronic and automated it gets for the convenience there will ALWAYS be humans listening and paying attention to what's best for each customer.timmcallister wrote:no one can ever say you folks don't go the extra mile in customer service.Squids wrote:So... in that case, that IS the price as far as you are concerned. Let me tell you something semi-secret about our company. We may not reach MILLIONS of people (yet anyway, we're working on it) but our ratio of repeat business is unheard of in our industry. Also the amount of members we have that make purchases and the amount of visitors that become members is really impressive. I guess if we made more hip hop loops and less "every instrument and style" we would technically have more success on the books but our commitment is to "sample everything" and that's even if it is as esoteric as strange rare instruments like Orchestrons or TalentMakers or Stylophones... so we go for integrity and longevity. Eventually we'll have just about anything you can ever want and as the numbers grow I think we've built a solid foundation of trust which to me is priceless. It takes time to EARN that and we've done our best with that in mind.
So, Squids Soap Box moment over. I just wanted to give you guys an inside look at how we think about our customers. Even the fact that we THINK about our customers is sometimes a cut above the rest. We always figure out a way to make you happy don't we? We're creative types after all.

Sweetwater's site says,
Question, though: Why would Sweetwater do that if they didn't have concrete knowledge that a product was arriving? To drum up sales, or...?
They do this with LOTS of products from many different manufacturers, but I never really got why they actually use the phrase "confirmed this item has shipped" when half the time that turns out not to be true? If I don't have a million dollars in my bank account, I can't really "confirm" that I have a million dollars in my bank, now, can I?
Again, that would be awesome if it turned out to be true.
Sweetwater's site says,
Sweetwater's almost always full of shit, though, so don't hold your breath. Would be a pleasant surprise if true, though. We've confirmed this item has shipped from IK Multimedia and should arrive in our warehouse within a day or two.

When you mean a "twist", you mean a good surprise right ?Squids wrote:We're looking at less than 3-4 weeks away I think on SampleTron. It will be available for pre-order on esoundz next week so... and new demos coming!

Well, the twist means there is more in some areas but a little different in others... I think overall though it is ideal for people who are interested in this content... particularly ST users.K-Slash wrote:When you mean a "twist", you mean a good surprise right ?Squids wrote:We're looking at less than 3-4 weeks away I think on SampleTron.
