lag, thanks, i know, but like i stated, i'd like to convert the dll to vst, rather than using it with the shell, as xt doesn't remember the plugin when the song is reloaded ...
so basically i only need to know where this damned compressorX.dll is located, that's it ...
i gave the installation a path, and everything is there, exept the dll ... and no search did find anything, nor does the installation log say anything about the installation of that dll ... about everything else which was installed, yes, but not the dll ... hmm ... do direct x plugs necessarily have to be a dll at all???

heh ... thanks man, that did it, and you know what?
direct x plugins not necessarily have to be a dll! that was new to me ...
well, it's a.AX file, i case you have such a situation ... i'm afraid the shell2vst exe can't handle .ax files .. will try nd let you know ...
thanks again, lag!

ahh ... i got it now ... i simply have to drag the dxshell onto the shell2vst of course, then it creates valid vst dll's in a folder called dx ...

The DX and DXi shell dlls seem to work erratic in Tracktion 3046. I added the dlls to my vst folder and scanned. The MFX will not scan. After the scan, my VST folder had a ton of DX and DXi plugs and I was able to load an instrument, record a track and render the track. Then I deleted the DXishell plug. When I went to reload another DXi, they had all disappeared. I suppose a rescan would bring them back. I've never seen the DXishell and DXshell appear in Tracktions VST menu as mentioned in the docs.
So now I use shelltoVST?

Yea you should drag the DX and DXi dlls onto the S2V exe and it should open a com box that scans all your DX plugins, naming and listing the number of DX's avalible on your system.
Do the same with both the MFX.dll and DXi.dll and you should get corresponding folders containing all of the plugins in VST format..
Make sure (obviously) that the folders are INSIDE the hosts VST folder and they should show up as VST's with no problem..
