A musique concrète.

There's an idea behind it, but it is still a secret.

 Brilliant, sounds like a very determined scientist :) it would be fantastic with an animation :)

Best regards,

:O)

Spe3D that's really amazing you picked that out. You are not far off at all.

Thanks for checking it. :)

You had me with "ontological." Loved it! Although, while listening, I kept wanting to scratch an "itch" I couldn't pinpoint.

Post

cool. love the combination of skewed exactness breaking down into un-sanity.

the sounds and flow remind me of the machiNe lanGuage ensemble i recently uploaded to the reaktor user library. if you have reaktor you should try it:

would be fun to do a sparser version as background groove for rap.

thanks for listening mayan.

Let me know if you pinpoint the itch. This is part of an assignment so an criticism is appreciated.

Thanks for that description, it really fits what I was trying to communicate.

Unfortunately I don't have reaktor yet, but thanks for pointing that out. I'll remember it, if I ever get reaktor.

Thanks for commenting. :)

crazy stuff. There seems to be an order to the disorder. This doesn't sound randomly thrown together.
I'll be curious as to what the secret is.

thanks for listening Jazzyspoon. Here's the story behind it:

"This piece explores the structure and breakdown of Mr. Vin's life. Mr. Vin is a scientist who models his life around an aspect of a successful experiment. Repeatability. His life is intentionally void of novelty and the uncertain. In this way his life and existence are represented by a static, predictable, rhythmical structure. The sounds that constitute the rhythmical structure represent concepts that underlie the repetitive activities of his life. When Vin is confronted with death, the ultimate novelty and uncertainty (in that science cannot determine its effects), he realizes the time he has left to eject himself from his monotonous life and realize his duty as a conscious being to "know his self" is minimal. The only activity that time permits him to realize is the destruction of the mask under which he has been living. His obligation to know his self is completed through the act of self-destruction. This destruction is represented by an annihilation of the rhythmical structure (his previous form of existence) and the distortion of the individual sounds (previous content of his existence).

Mr. Vin doesn't want his life to end in the same boring way he has sustained it these past twenty years. If imminent death is certain, then might as well go out in anxious, mad uncertainty."

I noticed you'd posted recently, and didn't want to jinx KVR by asking where your new music is at. I'm grabbing this now. Good to see you, but I daresay better to hear you.

thanks for checking it runagate. Feel free to critique how I missed the mark in conveying the story or whatever else you want.

I love resprsentational music!

*ducks a storm of thrown clogs from Euro peeps*

Um, I don't know what the story is behind this after only one listen (I purposefully didn't read the comments) but this is my kind of song!

As an aside, wtf a/d/a are people like you and rick using that sounds like 10,000 times better than my M-Audio thingee? Since you've been gone I moved up from onboard sound to a 4-in/4-out and can hardly believe the difference, but the fidelity of the soundstaging in this mix is just gorgeous.

Did I mention I love it?

Thanks for listening runagate.

All the sounds used on this were recorded with my zoom H2 (I'll probably share the samples sometime). My sound card is an emu 1820m. I used a bit of reverb on an aerosol can spray sound and light compression on the rest (first 40 second). I consciously selected timbre's that complemented each other, but other than that this thing "mixed itself" as they say.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Awesome collage - that was a blast, literally!

:( I feel really bad that I had to sell my Zoom H4 but luckily it went to a friend, a pro jazz bass player who is disturbingly wickedly great but knows jack squat about PCs or recording :(

aersol can!

Being a huge Mr. Bungle fan I'm inspired to guess that the theme is something to do with someone getting frustrated and smashing sounds, but I've not hipped to the cool pitch-rising crescendo idea yet. What a great song.
