Looking for Oud Sound

Hi,
I'm looking for a quality Oud sound/sample library. I'm about to buy from samplebase : http://samplebase.com/soundblock.htm?soundblock_id=92
But what makes me holding my decision is, this library is in their VST/AU format : Satelit, which is i've tried for few hours to learn and understand (how greedy this company), then wasting my time, then I give up. I rather choose a sample library for a current or popular sample player format, then installing new sample player, and facing a new learning curve, tutorials and all the bullshit wasting time, just because I need AN OUD sound!
Motu Ethno Instrument is another worth alternative, but, I don't like something with dongle (i use macbook pro). I don't need to buy Kontakt 3 just to get Oud sound. I almost have everything I want except Oud sound. (I use Logic & Reason).
Any opinion or suggestion? Do you know any other sample library that works with EXS24 or Refill?
Thank you.

Sorry to hear that you're having difficulty with Satellite. Have you checked out the video tutorials on the site?
http://samplebase.com/support/
You mentioned that you don't want to use a dongle, so Satellite is perfect for you. It's free even and comes with some free sounds. Not to mention that the price for the multi sampled Oud is only $29, taken from Dirk Campbell's Origins. Maybe I can help get you going? I'm sure anyone else at Samplebase could help you also if you just post in the forum or send an email. It's a simple installation and I'm sure I could have you up and running in no time.
Best,
M

Hey Midihead.
Is that the whole of Origins you've got there? I might just download some of those.
Listening to eg. the demo of Laouto. Is this really made up of multisamples and sampled chords? Sounds like a sampled phrase to me. Damn good if it's multisamples and chords.

Hi there! Great to hear from you, man. How's the music going? The stuff on your MySpace page is good.Armadillo wrote:Hey Midihead.

To answer your question about the Laouto, yes it is multi-sampled single notes and chords. Mark did the demo for that (he's good). The entire Origins library is not represented on Samplebase. But there is a pretty good selection from it.

Thanks regarding Myspace. It must be close to a year ago since I've updated that page, so my newest tracks are not on there.
Music doing well. I'm working on a project now where I doing a lot of "generic" world music. Done two tracks, but if it turns out they want more, I'll probably grap most of the Origin samples.
Don't really get around to your forum anymore I'm afraid.
Are you still planning some more Monolithic releases or is Samplebase taking up all your time?

World music, eh? Send me some links, will ya? Nothing going on at my forum, it's dead.
I only keep it up for the occasional posting of a question and to deliver my music which is now available for free. Someday I'll write some more actual songs, yes. It's always good for the soul.
Best,
M
