Just looking forward really, so no hurries here. But I don't really have a good fretless. Really I only have the one that comes with Kontakt 2.
Are there any affordable fretless libraries out there? Now I know that some may mention Chris Hein bass, and that's cool and all. But I won't have the money for an entire library like that for a LONG time it seems. And I really only need the fretless.
I heard that Manytone was working on one. If you are reading Manytone, or Gregjazz, any word on that one?
Also, does anyone have the Pagelli fretless from Wizoosounds? What is it like? It only mentions having four layers and slides. Is anything else in there?
Or any other suggestions are welcome if you know of one different than this.
Thanks!
Brent

Yup, still working on it, but our current priority is (and has been lately) getting ManyBass.com live.koolkeys wrote: I heard that Manytone was working on one. If you are reading Manytone, or Gregjazz, any word on that one?

Do you think it's worth waiting for over any other option? Can you give details on articulations and such? I know it may still be secret, so that's fine. Again, it's no rush since I'm just planning for the next month or so.
Basically, I'm sure it will be priced around the same as the Wizoosounds.com Pagelli bass. So I just wondered it if would have more to it or not.

The CH Fretless without the entire CH library.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I only ask because I'm still interested in the Pagelli bass, but it seems that nobody has used it here. So I figured I'd bump this real quick just to see if anyone has.
It seems like a decent sized library.

It's got the same mapping as the soundsets in ManyBass. It includes:koolkeys wrote:Do you think it's worth waiting for over any other option? Can you give details on articulations and such? (everything sampled down to a low B, too)
Soundset 1
- Sustained note range (2x velocity)
- Staccato note range (2x velocity)
Soundset 2
- Sustained note w/ vibrato (2x velocity)
- wholestep slide (2x velocity)
(use the keyswitching in ManyBass to switch between these soundsets)
Extras note range: harmonics, muted strings (2x velocity), open string rakes, string slaps, slides

Thanks for the information. Now, my dilemma is that I have a project I would like to use a fretless on. Do I wait for the Manytone one(which I would prefer), or go ahead with the Pagelli so I can get to it?

Oh, and I noticed you talked about Manybass. Is the fretless going to require Manybass? Or will it be multi-format like the other ones?

It's not dependent on ManyBass, it should at least work in any WusikSND player...koolkeys wrote:Oh, and I noticed you talked about Manybass. Is the fretless going to require Manybass? Or will it be multi-format like the other ones?
The Pagelli has a different tone. It's actually really bassy-sounding. I could send you a private audio demo of the Manytone fretless if you'd like to get an idea of the tone.

Sure, that would be good. I can compare it then to the Wizoosounds one. And if you happen to know more than last time about a release date, let me know as well! I'll probably only get one!
Thanks.

Hi koolkeys
I also love fretless bass very much and I think Trilogy is one of the bass vstis which has various fretless bass (3 I think), so you have several options and not only that but also probably the best ones around.
If you love the Jaco fretless bass no other library has this sound with that much authenticity and character. You know that, Spectrasonics has this "magic" in the sound and in the fretless its here a lot.
Actually Spectrasonics seems to have lowered the price a bit with the new plugins announced at Namm.
Sorry but I have not heard the bass you mentioned.

I'd love Trilogy. However, money just won't allow it right now, even with the price drop. But I agree that what I've heard in the past from Trilogy and in the few times I got to use it, it was great!

Care to do a quick mp3 demo of it? The demo they have(as well as most of their stuff) doesn't seem to do it justice really.AKJ wrote:the Wizooo Pagelli is great. you can't go wrong with it for the price.
If you can't, that's fine. But if you have something, even privately, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for the little review!
