Just read this today:

YAY!
Note: It seems they are also working on the next update- 3.02. So things are all good in Kontakt land! Too bad the 64-bit isn't coming until later this year, but still very good news.

Hmm...OK, it is going to use 64bits addressing. Pretty cool. With that title I thought that your were referring to the internal precision of the sampling engine, which I guess is already at 64bits?

I don't know. I just know that this is the biggest feature request of users lately.
But it may already be 64-bit inside. I'm sure somebody around here knows.

I agree. Although I already upgraded and love the new features. But I know that a LOT of people are waiting to upgrade until it goes 64-bit. And now it is going to do just that in a free update.

Nah, it doesn't say any specifics. It just says that it's in beta stage, which is the third of four testing phases apparently.

Ugh, why no XP64 compatibility?

My guess is because XP64 isn't a very widely used OS. If I remember correctly, even Microsoft has kind of moved on from it and never really did much with it. But Vista 64 seems more popular in general.zircon wrote:Ugh, why no XP64 compatibility?
So you could almost say that XP64 is "legacy", and that's possibly the reason. But who knows, it might still work on it even if it's not fully supported.

XP64 is still supported by MS and will be for years. Many musicians use it, especially heavy sample users (like the ones who would benefit from this upgrade) because Vista64 is more of a resource hog - a far more bloated and unnecessary OS.

I don't know then. All I know is that I've heard many times that XP64 just isn't a widely used OS. I could obviously be wrong. But that would make sense for not supporting it.
But like I said, it may still run on it. Many apps run on software they don't support. It's just not guaranteed.
