How do i get my Studioprojects B1 out of the shockmount?

There is a slot in the shockmount to line up the mating notch on the mic to, do so, and the mic will come out easily.

Then indeed you forced it into the mount improperly, not lining up the notch and the slot. If you can spin the mic, do so until you have them lined up, and with little effort the mic will skip out the mount.

it doesnt need any force to go on with the notch and slot properly aligned. but out of the six times Ive done this now, having left them aligned, and ensuring there's been no rotation, it still takes far more force to remove. thats because the basic 'tube' shape is actually slightly conical on mine, with the slot narrower at the bottom than at the top.

maybe you can try and imagine the physical implications of that, maybe not.

either way, bduffy and M4M are both correct, where you are wrong; twist the mic past the 'proper' alignment of the notch and the slot actually widens the slot, making it easier to pull the B1 out.

lol! 6 years of university... a whole stack of degrees.. and i still can't get a microphone out of its shockmount...

i'll keep trying... its not for the sake of acutally needing to take it out... more for the fact that it will annoy me if i dont! i wont be beaten by a cheap bit of plastic!

Come to think of it, I have no need to remove the B1 except for when I move (it's still in the bag since I finished my album and moved... ).

Yes there is a bit of force required to get the mic to begin it's travel out of the shockmount with the notch properly aligned, otherwise it would simply fall out, not a good thing for any mic, never mind an LDC. However if you forced it in with the notch not lined up, it would be damned near impossible to remove without breaking the shockmount.

Whatever, have a blast with it darling. Better yet just keep it in the shockmount, I think it's safer in your hands that way.
