The most extraordinary singer Australia has ever produced in my humble opinion -
Sacrifice - Lisa Gerrard with Pieter Bourke ( this actually a live performance but the video is out of sync - Yes I can vouch first hand for her sounding this awesome live) - Truly Incredible.
Enjoy - Sacrifice .

I want this version played at my funeral when I finally shuffle off this mortal coil. Truly beautiful, ethereal, other worldly like she is channeling some divine being into this world.
Reduces me to tears every time I hear it.
It sounds like pure and true beauty to my ears at least.
It is the sound of a resonant soul.
What more can I say.
Lisa you are fantastic.

A very lovely voice (seems to be quite heavily inspired by Balkan folk music), but she's being drowned in reverb and a synth that, IMO, takes away more from the piece than it adds. I'd love to hear her sans-FX.

This is from a Live performance at the Hollywood Bowl before Dead Can Dance broke up - gives you a better idea of her live voice.
Also a large portion of these tracks are late 80's very early 90's (hence the drenched in reverb ala some This Mortal Coil and Cocteau Twins tracks for example also.
.
Might give you a better idea of what she sounds like in the flesh none the less.
Her voice is definitely in the foreground on this take.

Saw Dead Can Dance at the London Town and Country Club in Camden back in 1990 or so. Wicked live act, for sure. Lisa's voice is awesome, and she sure plays a mean T'chai Chin or whatever that dulcimer thingy's called...

Ah, gotcha. Not a big fan of that sort of production, but man, oh, man… that voice is just haunting.FaX wrote:Voidoid Surrealist wrote: Also a large portion of these tracks are late 80's very early 90's (hence the drenched in reverb ala some This Mortal Coil and Cocteau Twins tracks for example also.
