Just a few words on this synth which i have been testing over the last week or so.

I think this is a lovely sounding Virtual Analog synth. Considering no fx are included it is amazing what sounds you can get that sounds warm and lush.

The modulation on this thing are great. Basically anything can be wired to anything and that makes for some strange and interesting possibilities.

As for the cpu usage i find it less of a strain than i was expecting. I do own a quad core so it doesnt really matter to me anyway but nevertheless its nice to see that its a lot better than some people make it out to be.

Just my thoughts so far.

About how much cpu is is pulling for a four-note chord on your quad core?

I'm holding out on this one and Arturia's Jupiter 8 until I get a much faster computer.

I am getting around 4% cpu usage in cubase sudio 4 using the standard loadup preset. Thats playing a four note chord

Ok I've just got my new Quad Core Q6600 up and running. Of course I wanted to install the new Poly Ana demo so I e-mailed Admiral Quality for a new Reg Code and got a response in about a minute and directly from the Admiral himself. :-o Now that's what I call fast service. :D

Looking forward to trying Poly Ana on the Q6600!

I also had very fast and very helpful communications with him. I'm very happy with this purchase all around.

Wow some interesting numbers from a quick test. In Reaper using the Default Brass patch I couldn't get the cpu number to go over 10 percent even playing a full fisted seven note chord. :-o In FL Studio even with the "multi processor" option enabled I was getting about 35% under similar conditions. It appears Reaper is far more efficient on this system than FL Studio which is cool because Reaper is now by far my number one DAW. Anybody with a Q6600 know of any tweaks I need to do to fine tune the system? This is my first Quad Core so I wonder if I'm missing any tricks. Oh and the new beta is sounding really good. :D

I'm also using Reaper, and it is very efficient with multiprocessing. (It has quite a few related options in the settings menus as well.) Perhaps the host is the reason for many of the high CPU use complaints then.

RC3 is out.

http://www.admiralquality.com/download/ ... 110RC3.exe

Changes in 1.10 - 2008-02-07 Poly-Ana 1.10 RC3

- User customizeable backgrounds in .PNG format. Just place a 1000x750 file named Poly-AnaBG.png in the same directory as Poly-Ana.dll
- Hold/damper button to right of keyboard now saved in patch.
- Cutoff knob smoothing added, should eliminate "zipper noise" when performing cutoff knob automations.
- Fixes in editor, might solve some stability issues.
- Optimized filter code resulting in a slight performance improvement
- Added Program Name edit field above the keyboard.
- Pitchbend smoothing is no longer an option, always on now. Compensated for varying host sample rates.
- Fixed PWM amount acting as zero until Amount knob was adjusted following switch from PM to PWM modes.
- Fixed Mod Source Drop-downs showing wrong values for Env-3 and Mix-1.

And here's a couple of background .pngs to get you started on making your own:

That's it for new features, test please and let me know if there's any bugs. Should use a wee bit less CPU now as well.

Sorry to everyone who was waiting for a scrollable/resizeable window. I tried and was close but couldn't get scrolling working reliably (without crashing) for this version, so it will have to wait until the next major update. Very sorry it didn't make it in for this one.

Every once in a while in a man's life he has to buck up and admit he was wrong. I've never before done such a 180 degree turnabout in my opinion of a synth. To be honest PolyAna had always left me flat, uninspired. But now that I have a system that allows me to play her full on I've fallen in love. This synth is just a joy to play. Not all the bells and whistles of other synths but just a joy to use and a quality of sound that is awesome.

I agree...it is an instrument of beauty. Bravo...I don't know my ass from my elbow when it comes to sound design but I was able to tweak myself into euphoria. It's a deep machine and sounds amazing.
