Can somebody recommend a host for the Roland SH201 Vst, I have tried it in FL Studio and the plugin crash when loading. As expected Roland and Image Line support can't do nothing about it. So far, so good, I am running on win2000 so that rules out cubase. Sonar has major stability/speed problem that makes it useless on my computer. Reaper feels incomplete and unintuitive. Live midi editing seem painful and so on... I have yet to try EnergyXT. Also, if you have FL studio XXL, can somebody try downloading the vst plugin from Roland and give it a try, just to see if the problem is specific to my machine. That would be highly appreciated.

No I have overlooked it as too basic. Might be worth a try though, I will check it out tonight. Looks like it does what I want. I should check these out myself later, but in case you could reply, does it have any kind of pattern editor? Or is it piano roll from start to finish? I am lazy and I enjoy simple copy/paste of patterns. Looks like it is possible through sequence parts. Quantizing would be a plus too. Sorry if this goes a little OT as sequencer, but I am mostly looking for something easy and compatible with my SH201 hardware as well as other standard midi hardware synths and effects.

It uses a pianoroll but it is pattern based

If you create a sequence and creates a new one after that you will get two pattern sequences, so if you doubleclick on one of them it only shows that pattern or sequence

It also records automation live from all vst's if you click record and move a knob with the mouse.
It has a great midi learn setup also (Almost like Act in Sonar).

+ input quantize, and quantize of note start and end is in there also.

thank you very much for info D-Fusion, it looks great, I will give it a shot tonight and hopefully I could call it case solved

I have a strong background in module tracking and found it hard to translate it to midi sequencers.
Already lost countless hours (weeks, months) figuring out sequencers user interface and figuring out stability issues only to switch to another host.

Youre welcome and i hope that i have lead you into the right decision

The mulab Free is fully functional except that it only has a 8 track limitation + it is also fully modular if you want to digg deeper into it

Mulab is also a new sequencer on the market so there will be lotsa more things added underway like Step recording, Dual core support, built in Sampler + more.

But it is already very usefull and great for everyday use

I also know the feeling going from trackers to Sequencers

I used to turn my head at the beginning so that i saw the notes the way i was used to
