Hello.
I want to order a pair of AV40s from an online store as it seemed to be the only decent model that would fit my room size (anything louder would upset neigbours) and my current budget.
Got to test a pair today in a store though and they done a really weird thing: volume knob to minimum and the left speaker (the one with the inputs) was still playing sound while the other was silent. Turning volume up would even things about half way. I suppose the speakers on display were faulty or is this some weird design thing?
That being said.. will these do in my home studio setup or should i save some more money and get some ESI 05s or m-audio BX5s or something like that? i'm really interested in an opinion on ESIs (keep in mind power is more than enough already, i'm only interested in sound quality)
Thanx.. hope i didn't annoy you much.
M-audio (studiophile) AV40 problem ?

I have the ESI 05s. They are a great sounding budget monitor. I use mine for vsti only but I know Guitar players who recommended them to me. Not to everyones taste lookwise. No problems with mine so far after 2 years. You should have asked the store what was up with the AV40s.
