as the topic asks Im wondering if I need software drivers for my axiom 49 if I plug it in through the midi ports of my audio interface. The reason I wonder is because I want to use windows vista 64 bit and m-audio does not have 64 bit drivers. If i dont need drivers this illiminates that problem. Would there be any drawbacks to using midi? I would have the same control over the keyboard whether usb or midi right?

If you plug it in through the interface's MIDI ports, no need for drivers.
Which interface? Just in case you don't know, M-Audio has beta 64-bit drivers for some of the interfaces, you gotta mark the "show beta" (or however it's called) checkbox. If there are no 64-bit drivers for the interface, then it won't work at all on Vista 64-bit, not just its MIDI in/out.

This is good news. My audio interface is 64 bit compliant. So I shouldnt have any trouble or lack of use from using my keyboard through the midi ports of my interface?
