Hey squids

One of the themes at NAMM for drum software certainly seemed to be interfacing it to hardware controllers like Roland V-drums, not the least of course being Ocean Way Drums. So many of the I-Map drum kits are beautiful but unless you are a squidsian type keyboard player (which I am DEFINITELY not, I'm somewhat in awe of your playing) we miss out on many of the more subtle nuances that can be achieved.

I've been using my TD-3 kit a lot in my studio and would love to be able to use some of the SR kits with SampleTank, etc. Any chance of having them mapped for this type of use in the future, it would be great!!

Since the I-map is largely the same in each SR\ST library, I set each pad's note on # in the e-drum brain and saved it as a preset\kit there. For me it is much easier to set this in the brain than re-mapping samples in the software.
Considering that each program\kit in your brain may put out a different note-on and this would also vary from manuf. to manuf. it would be hard to come up with one mapping that would work.
With some creative program change triggers and velocity switching, a person could probably incorporate quite a few of the nuances.

That makes a lot of sense, I'll give it a go. I must just be lazy.

Glad it makes sense. It should be dead easy to change the note # in the brain(at least it is on my Yamaha) and with not too much work you can have a lot of different setups for whatever plugin\library you are using. I have one for Orchestral Percussion whch is fun to dial in and hammer away on.
One cool trick I learned is to set one of the snare rimshot triggers to "next kit" and with a tap I am into a different kit. This works great since my ride is only a single zone, so I can hit the rimshot and get to a kit with a ride bell and different cymbals (for example). If you then (in the second kit) set this same rimshot to "previous kit" you can toggle between them very easily.
With a little practice you can do a 6-tom fill on a 3 tom kit haha
