I was thinking... what a great marketing, making us all want this thing....
but then I realized it's not the marketing, it's the years of work that went into this product by a lot of people, on several continents.
We are going to hear these sounds all over, TV, movies, commercials, internet, radio... for a long time.
I don't think you will find one "content creator" that will not own this thing.

Just watched Ep 3...yes, Omnisphere is going to be heard all over, no doubt. But what will make it different (I hope) is that there is enough power in the engine that no two people will use the same sound the same way. There's a lot of tweakability.

And it's only February...damn...

I kind of promised myself not to ever buy any more synths as I already have Z3ta+, Predator, Surge, Spectra and Reaktor 4, but Omnisphere just looks too damn good to be left alone.

Waker: you're right. They do keep mentioning the burning piano, the light bulp and the bowed clothes rack, but who cares, it sounds fantastic from what I've heard. And best of all, very organic.

I noticed that while they play examples of most of the sounds they mention, they still haven't played anything with Omnisphere using the burning piano. The video of them burning the poor instrument is kind of neat, but I want to hear what the synth engine is doing with the raw sample.

I can wait 'til September, though. My copy of Atmosphere arrived yesterday, so I have plenty of new sounds to keep me busy until then.

My thoughts exactly, episode 3 is disappointing. I mean it's cool that they had fun coming up with odd things to record instead of renting actual gear, but I'd rather hear more about the instrument itself and other patches than those coming from 'promotional video purposes' recording sessions.

Don't forget, they are probably working through the processing of the content they've recorded, and the patch design at the moment. They will only want to showcase stuff that is finished and of sufficient quality to demonstrate.

Remember, it's not finished - it's still quite a few months away - it's not like it's al done and dusted and they need to wait until September for arbitrary reasons...

One would assume the architecture of the synth is at least nailed down...or are they playing these "psychoacoustic" thingies through someone else's synth with an Omnisphere sticker? Don't answer that, it's rhetorical.

In the interest of giving the prospective buyer something to actually chew on, a nice simple block diagram of the instrument's architecture would be useful. They're either marketing an instrument, or they're marketing fluff.

I thought the video did have info we had already seen...but perhaps Eric wanted to have that info on the official site in perhaps better quality than the you tube versions (not a bad idea)and where it would be easier to find....on the Omnisphere site.

I was definitely expecting a lot more from the video. Any *one* of these would have been really great...

1. GUI Tour. The Kore like browser e.t.c which looks even better than NI's effort.
2. Included FX
3. A deeper look at the chaos engine in Omni
4. More details on RMX functionality with Omni
5. Break down of the 50GB library or the other 47GB as 3GB would be Atmosphere's library as it is included.
6. More detail on the synthesis options.

Having said that it is clealry a massive project and Spectrasonics response to "why do we have to wait so long to get it?" from the FAQ...is "there are many details to complete and perfect". Certainly if it was RTM ready it would have been out of the door right after NAMM. So if it means they get it right and tidy up any loose ends between now and September then I am quite happy with that.

Eric did say that they would focus more on the synthesis aspects in future videos so between now and September there is plenty of time to see much more of this new plug.

The clothes rack with two strapped guitars had an incredible sound.

I loved the light bulb transformation part on the keys, fantastic. Looking forward to the next video

Any *one* of these would have been really great...

I'm sure we'll get all that and more. Don't expect it all at once, though. It's not like it ultimately makes a different whether you see these features now, or in two months - either way, you still can't buy it, so... patience...

Although... the Specs are often quite guilty of inventing cool new technology their products are marketed under (eg, "Groove Control") without actually saying what it is, other than it's "some kind of secret mystery voodoo source that we do which is really cool, although we can't tell you about it, obviously".

This latest video was on Psycho-Acoustic sampling, which is an interesting buzzword and from the first Omnisphere vids i was curious to know what they mean by this term, or whether it's just another market-ey buzzhype word.

I've watched the video, and I'm still none the wiser. The best I could make out was they mic stuff up and move the mics around. Which is, er... not exactly the newest idea in the world...

Maybe they are running multiple mics in different places to pick up different tonalities of the source, which they can isolate or blend as required back in the digital domain?

Anyway, cool as Omnisphere undoubtedly will be - after ten videos or so since Namm, I'm done with the burning pianos, lightbulb's and tesla coils, cool though it is. Something else next time, please...
