IKMM's site is back up again (moved to the US) but now the IK Store is down for maintenance...

StompIO is now shipping. I wonder if that means we'll finally be seeing X-Gear soon.

Post

Halfway through February now. Just 2 weeks left...
They ought to release some more info on X-Gear and Metal in the meantime.
The StompIO page still doesn't list the Phase 90 that Squids has confirmed is included in Metal, nor does it list any of the cabs from Metal. It also still has the DS-1 and HM-2 descriptions mixed up. And the Vintage Metal Lead is still showing the JCM 800 graphics from AT2. I'd like to see more info on this model, since technically, a "JMP100" could be any 100 watt Marshall from the '70s. It might not be a 2203 at all. It could be a 1959 MKII. Would be nice if they would clarify.

At the very least IKMM should update the X-Gear and Metal pages so they don't still say they're coming in 2007.

HA!

I just got ANOTHER "stomp i/o released"

It's a bummer, I was really hoping to have had it a long time ago :?
so what

Man, oh man,

I re-installed my digitally dusted copy of ATJHE today after almost 6 months of no use, and for the first time, used it with my "The Brick" DI.

I almost cried the setup sounded so good. Even the presets shined. I have forgotten how much I fell in love with this ampsim the first time I tried it. I shall rekindle the flame.

The bummer is now I want XGear more than ever! C'mon IKMM, where the heck is it!!! :)

Meanwhile I'm playing with the very very excellent Revalver and feeling glad I sold AT2 all that time ago ;)

You know what Amberience? I agree AT2, is good all around, for high gain it doesn't shine. I always maintained that MKII is the ampsim to beat for high gain/distortion (and now Wagner is the biggest contender).

But JHE is a different beast. It sound awesome. Where MKII can get a bit "nazely" at times, and lack definition at low frequencies, JHE has that sound nailed. The response on the MKII is a bit better, I will give it that.

I have no idea on how MKIII will sound. I have heard good and bad things about it, from supposedly trusted sources, and a demo clip of it at the NAMM, which did sound bad, so I am not really basing my judgment on that video.

The other disappointment is that a lot of people have formulated a big wish list of new amps, and all MKIII will get is new Peavey amps :? ... Not the creme de la creme of amps in my book. I just hope that the implementation is right, and that the developer will pull it together nicely and maybe beef the simulation and the attack a bit.

I think ATJHE is really AmpliTube 3 in a lot of ways. Where AT2 improved over the original AmpliTube in leaps and bounds, I think ATJHE does the same with AT2. AT Metal will be building on that. I think the Marshall JMP in it will smoke the Marshalls in AT2. And you know, I always liked the Dual Rectifier in AT2. I think anyone saying AT2 isn't good for high gain is crazy. Anyone who says that hasn't tried out that amp dimed. And I think the Triple Rectifier in AT Metal will smoke the AT2 Dual. As for Peaveys, AT Metal has a 5150 which is considered one of the all time best high gain amps.

One of the main reasons why I've campaigned for a Phase 90 so much for AT Metal is because I got the distinct sense that ATJHE + AT Metal inside X-Gear would pretty much make AT2 obsolete, that is if you got a good phaser along with that combo. They pretty much cover all the amps and effects you could want, and if ATJHE is any guide, then I would say they will do it better than anyone else. A Twin, a Bassman, a 1959 and a 2203(?), plus Boss and MXR pedals galore, all the clasic distortion pedals, a UniVibe and a Vox wah. Who needs more than that?

And I do agree, ReValver tends to be nasal, but still not nearly as bad as Guitar Rig.

the reason I got at2 was that it was a pretty good price (I think the crossgrade was about 190 total) and some of the extra stuff that JHE doesn't have, like delays, front end comps, graphic eq, and I love the ce-1 emu  (though it is a crime it's not stereo capable :x )I can get some really really ass-blistering heavy tones as well, though I don't care much for the rect emu. (come to think of it, every rect emu I've tried SUCKS)

Anyways, these two are the staple for some time to come. Cubase gives me delay when I NEED JHE and someday :hihi: x gear will be out and I'll be able to use delays, front comps, etc with JHE
so what

This week we're announcing something REALLY cool for AmpliTube 2 on www.esoundz.com I will update you guys midweek but I think you're going to like it. Very VINTAGE. ;)

X-Gear is coming very soon for AT2 as is an update to the Stomp IO's. Metal I am not sure when it will be released. I've played with it though and it is very cool... and yes it definitely DOES have a model of an MXR Phase 90 in it. In fact, I confirmed it today with the CEO and you want to know the funny thing? He said it was because "Redshift" wanted it so badly. I'm not kidding. I took a few quotes from the thread and sent them along for consideration. I don't quote you guys when you're bashing it though but when you're saying positive things that appear like you really care and love it then... I pass it along (sometimes with your KVR name). So he remembered Redshift. Anyway, he confirmed that it is definitely in there. Don't know about your other requests but again I did pass it on.

By the way, we're making special Speedtrainer "Jam Loops" for download. Basically grooves (sometimes just drums, sometimes with bass or guitar) to play along with. We're going to be giving a bunch away for free on www.downloadablesoundz.com and even MORE for people that have bought any Amplitube powered product from www.esoundz.com Anyone who buys Stomp IO from esoundz will be able to get a bunch of them for free. These are exclusive and VERY cool. You have grooves for every style of music that you play from Speedtrainer and then play along with them. They're longer than regular loops most of the time and have fills and crashes so you feel like you're playing live with a rhythm secion.

Anyway... this Wednesday esoundz will be announcing something very very cool for those interested in AmpliTube... particularly if you like classic rock. That's all I can say for now. But you're gonna like it!

new news is good news!

btw, if it wasn't for redshift, this thing would have been dead a LONG time ago, so HORRY FOR REDSHIFT!

Ok, wed is a date for new coolness :)

LOL, you're sure that he pronounced the "f" in shift, right? ;)

Well, redshift, your the hero of the day man :)

The nice part about this whole IKMM is that through squids, they seem to be listening to most of their user's feedbacks. We said StompIO was expensive, they lowered the price and included a nice software bundle with it and an expression pedal. We said we need interoperability, they come up with XGear. Heck, they went to such extreme as to get rid of the dongle when everyone was unhappy with it. I never seen this done by anyone else, and I sincerely applaud the gutsy effort.

You know, IKMM is the company we love to hate because of the constant delays, but that put aside, it is truly a company that listen to it's customers base and delivers excellent products that are establishing high level standards throughout the whole musical software industry.

And thank you Squids for giving our community a voice where and when it matters, your efforts are truly appreciated.

I've said for quite some time, JHE is the "legend" of sims, now, IT'S starting to look like AT2 is catching up!.......er, well, again, wed is a date

Great news Squids!
Though I think you deserve the credit for the Phase 90, not I. It was your direct lobbying efforts that got it in. I just posted some pictures on a message board!

I do have a couple questions about Metal:

1) Which model is the "JMP100"?
  • I have long suspected the "classic British 100W rock head" would be a JMP 2203 Master Volume, but it equally could be a JMP 1959 MKII. It's highly unlikely it would be anything else. Can you find out which one?
2) Which Phase 90 did they model?
  • Did they model the Script or the Block logo, or did they do "the best of both worlds" with the EVH "script switch" that lets you toggle between either?

:?

No guesses yet on the "very vintage" at2 thingy?

echo plex?

or maybe....
