I have a ADA MP1 Classic Preamp as well as a POD XT PRO. I use a GK 250ML to power my cabinet. I want to have both preamps connected to use simultaneously or seperate. I have tried connecting these units with there FX loops. However, only one unit seems to be providing the tone. Do I need to merge both preamps via a small mixer into my power amp? Or can it be done by using the FX Loop?

You'll need either a mixer or (my favorite) 2 A/B boxes; one before and one after the preamps.
The effects loop idea won't work; any form of distortion, etc. will act as a limiter for one thing...

Thanks for the tip ew!I've heard of some people using a Y cable to get a guitar signal into 2 amps. What do you think?

The problem with a Y cable is that you'd have to do the switching at the amps themselves. Plus, I've yet to run into a Y cable solution that didn't add noise.

So I got a mixer and A/B/Y box. For best sound quality do I crank the volume on the preamps and keep the mixer volume lower or vice versa???

For best quality you put the input channel on PFL (pre-fader-listening) and watch the VU meter. Set gain trim on the mixer to unity and adjust the gain on the preamp so it hovers just above the 0dB mark.

Help:Connecting 2 Preamps???
