Still deciding on whether to get a 49 or a 25 key version.

I dont want to get a 25 key and then regret it. But I also dotn want to take too much space with a larger keyboard.

So I was wondering about the 25. It has 2 octaves, I assume it is easy to transpose octaves with a press of a button. However it is possible to split the keyboard in half so that say the the bottom end covers from C-3 and the top end covers from C-5?

If I can do that, I will probably just get the 25.

It won't be used for any type of performance, just keying in melodies and chords into my sequencer.

Oh and what do you call the type of USB controllers which don't require drivers?

I have a 49 keys keyboard, and find myself transposing octaves all the time. Can't imagine how horrible that would be with only 25 keys

Splitting can always be done with software like MidiOx. However with 25 keys you'll have very small regions. I don't see how helpful that is...

i second what C00kie said.. i have a 49 key E-mu and i end up switching octaves when playing piano and stuff like that. only get a 25 if you plan to get a bigger one later (61 or 88 or something like that).

I would go with at least 61keys.

That would be a generic USB midi device/keyboard/controller

Thats the one! I forgot what it was called thanks.

Oh how does the Emu Xboard compare to the Axiom? The latter is a bit on the chunky side and I can do without the drum pads.

I think maybe a 49 is better then. I already have a digital piano but since the keys are full weighted, its aint good for whacking out drums.
